The Hayloft is one of a group of three farm buildings nestled together on a picturesque country estate. It is found at the end of a private road on the edge of Mayfield village.
It is a spacious self-contained apartment with 4 poster beds and two en suite bedrooms , one with a marbled wet room.
Large kitchen and an open plan 32 ft living/dining room.
Country walks in area of outstanding natural beauty. Fields and lake at the rear of the property for picnics (no garden)
2 great village pubs.

The space

The Hayloft is found at the end of a half mile private road but it is not secluded as it is one of a group of three farm buildings. It stands next to an unconverted barn and opposite victorian stables.
The Hayloft is self contained and has a private entrance through to an internal staircase.
The staircase leads to the accommodation which is all on one level.
The living room: a large 32 foot open plan room -one end of the room has sofas and TV and the other has a large oak table and chairs for dining. High ceilings and full height windows to the front of the property enhance the feeling of space and light.
The kitchen is large and fully equipped. Facilities include a dishwasher, fridge/freezer, microwave, electric cooker/oven, kettle, toaster. Crockery, cutlery, glasses for 5 people and kitchen utensils and pans.
Accessed from the living room are the two bedrooms with beautiful ensuite shower rooms. The wet room from Bedroom 1 is particularly large and has double basins and marbled walls and slate flooring. Both bedrooms have four poster beds - one traditional, and one is a modern bespoke bed.
It is warm and cosy for the Winter months, with plenty of heating and heated towel rails.
The property has WiFi, TV (freeview), DVD player, board games, books and magazines.
Although there is no garden with this property there are fields to the rear of the property which lead directly to the lake. Feel free to wander over the fields or through the woodland, or even have a picnic by the small lake.
Two minutes walk down the lane will take you to the local woods, which in late April/May is full of bluebells and wild garlic. There are plenty of rabbits hopping across the drive and sheep (sometimes cows) in the fields.
Keep your eyes open for deer, foxes, herons, kestrels and badgers. You will hear owls at night and woodpeckers by day.

Guest access

Although there is no garden with the accommodation, guests have direct access to fields and woodland and miles of public footpaths directly from the accommodation. There is also a large pond and fields to the rear of the hayloft (fishing permitted with a license). Feel free to roam up the fields to the rear of the property and beyond into the woodland.

Interaction with guests

Having lived on the Merrieweathers estate for almost 20 years, I am more than happy to help with information on what there is to do, and all that the surrounding areas have to offer. I will be there to welcome you and give you the key. I live in the Stables opposite The Hayloft and I'm happy to help at any time.

Other things to note

The Hayloft is self-catering accommodation.

What a beautiful place! And best nights sleep I've had in a long time. The space and bedrooms are bigger than they appear in the photos. Everything was spotless. The linens were better than in many hotels I've stayed at. Great communication from Theresa. All around wonderful! We were there for just one night, but would be very keen to return and stay for longer.

I was visiting on business so it was just me staying at the air bnb. It was lovely and clean. The host went the extra mile by having milk, juice and other amenities ready in the kitchen for my arrival. The only issues I found was that there is no mobile service, however there wifi was sufficient that I could make the necessary calls via (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN).

Wow! If you're looking for a beautiful spacious place to stay in a lovely quiet area, stay here. The house is at the end of a private road, we were surprised by how much space there was in the house, the bedroom, the huge living room and kitchen. The bathroom is amazing, with two showers. In the fridge were put some drinks for us, butter, fresh bread and croissants with jam. Absolutely great! We felt really welcome. For visiting places like Brighton, Tunbridge wells, Seven Sisters, this is a great location. If we ever visit this area again we will definetely stay here again!

Photo's do not do this place justice - the living area is much bigger than I anticipated and the bathrooms are fab! A wonderful stay, I wish it could have stayed for longer than just the one night. Thanks Theresa for being so accommodating :)
