The property

Bowater Cottage sits at the end of a private driveway, giving it that tucked-away feeling. The cottage has its own entrance leading into a small hallway and then into a modern kitchen. It has all the crockery and equipment you will need for a self-catering holiday. The lounge has a floor to ceiling window to make the most of the view while giving it an open and bright feeling. The French doors open up onto a patio seating area with patio furniture. Central heating is by a gas combi-boiler with instant hot water.

Introducing the viewing deck

As seen in the picture gallery there is a viewing deck with a covered seating area to the front of the cottage. Perfect for artists and nature lovers. This is the place to sit in all weathers and watch the coming-and-goings on the loch. Bring your binoculars. The wildlife count includes: Gannets, seals, goldfinches, jays, herons, cormorants, oyster catchers, curlews, eider duck, red squirrels, buzzards, mergansers, dabchicks and a fleeting sparrowhawk. See what you can add… Leonard & Fiona use this occasionally but guests are welcome to relax here any time they like.

Privacy: Bowater Cottage is built adjacent to Bowater House. Privacy is assured and will be respected. If you need anything during your stay you are welcome to call on the owners, but otherwise you will be left to enjoy the peace and quiet of this special place.

Where you’ll be

Lochgoilhead, Lochgoilhead and Area, United Kingdom

Scenery - picture postcard Scotland. Within the Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park, Lochgoilhead sits at the head of a total fjord type sea loch. Backed by the mountains of the Argyll Forest Park, we like to think this place is pretty special.

Activities - for a small village there is an excellent choice of things to do. Take to the hills on a number of marked walking trails. Take to the water on kayaks, a group canoe trip or hire a boat. The local leisure centre has a 25m indoor swimming pool, sauna,a Jacuzzi, indoor play area and a range of activities. Open to the public.

Entertainment - Friday night in the Goil Inn is either an acoustic night or bar entertainment. The nearby holiday village has regular entertainment.

Touring - We have a number of scenic drives laid out for you for the must-see things in the area. Tours of the Cowal Peninsula, drives to Glencoe, Oban, the Trossachs - and Edinburgh.

Hello, I am Leonard. Welcome to Lochgoilhead Holidays

I have been looking after holiday cottages and homes in my beautiful home area in Argyll for 28+ years. I have been in the travel business in the UK, Canada and Australia for 40 years. That adds up to a whole lot of experience.

My home owners entrust their homes to me so that I can help, you the guest, find just the right property for your stay. I work with the housekeepers to make sure that the homes are ready for your arrival and are as described in their web descriptions.

I live in Lochgoilhead and am available to you during your stay to answer any questions and to help you make the most out of your time in Scotland.

Finding your holiday home is easy. Once you have confirmed your stay I will be in touch with a detailed map and directions as well as key collection information.

You may think booking with a local agent is impersonal. Far from it. This is what I do, and even after all this time. I want you to come and enjoy what we have to offer.

A word about reviews. Airbnb is built on relationships. At the end of your stay you will be asked for a review. There is some confusion here. Some guests are scoring based on the property - rather than the way I am handling the questions and the booking process. If you are happy with how I look after you, bear that in mind when scoring the review. Many thanks. Leonard
