Situated on a newly established almond farm, Majors View is the perfect weekend getaway. It stretches from the banks of Breede River up to the high ground on which the cottage is built. Thus an excellent view over the farm and valley. 3 mins drive from town and even closer to the nearest winery. Majors View is at the start of the Robertson wine route. Ideal for 2 couples or small family.
LONG STAY OPTION
COVID-10 POLICY
Ample time for a deep clean of the cottage with no ‘same-day’ turnovers.
The space
2 bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms. Bath and shower. Fully equipped kitchen and outside braai. Being fully fenced and with a pool cover, the cottage is both child and pet friendly
Ample braai wood available
Other things to note
The cottage is situated on a working farm. Majors Drift has an unique history as being the original Kipdrift farm where the first Klipdrift Brandy was distilled. The Klipdrift band name as well as the liqueur company was sold off the Distell in later years. The first owner. Major Marais , was a colorful character that was a decorated soldier in WW2. He also was an excellent marksman with the nickname" Major Pistool". Countless parties are recollected where he entertained his guests in the Breede River banks or on the concrete reservoir that he built with the help of Italian POW. He is buried on the farm near the cottage as he spent timeless episodes there overlooking the valley that he so loved.
The Majors Hill wine cellar is currently being redeveloped as an almond hulling and shelling facility.
Horses can be rent from the neighbor for a exploring of the surrounding farms and neighborhood.

Information available on emergency numbers, places to eat, river cruises and things to do. Robertson town and surrounding wineries have several choices for good restaurants and wine tasting. Also home to an excellent coffee shop and roaster, one of my favorites.
