Our cute "cabaña morada" is a sweet little building made out of adobe (= earth bricks) nested in the green soothing geography of Vilcabamba's mountains.
It comprises of one comfortable bedroom, open plan kitchen-living room, bathroom with hot shower 24hrs, a covered patio surrounded by a blooming garden with wonderful views of the valley of Vilcabamba.

Our coffee plantation lies just next to it and fruit trees and bananas plants are everywhere!

The space
My husband and I were once traveling South America before deciding to settle in Vilcabamba. The multiple accommodation choices our trip presented us with, made us write mental notes of nice touches and must haves for the ideal refuge from the bustle of travel life.

We have created Cabaña Morada with the intention to offer travellers all the comfort we dreamt of on our voyage: ambience, coziness and quality in a rural idyllic setting, attributes that never came all together!

At Cabaña Morada be sure to enjoy a nice queen size comfortable orthopedic bed, 100%cotton bedsheets, bedside lights (with light switches placed in the right locations!), plugs (usb and not) in multiple handy locations, extra blankets (even hot water bottles to hug while stargazing on the patio!), nice hot shower (with rain shower head), fully kitted kitchen with sharp knives, clean tea towels, blender, many pots and pans and even a coffee grinder+moka, reliable wifi.
Feel free to enjoy our gardens and use our herbs for teas and cooking. We also try to have a rack of bananas for you as a welcome gift!

Located 15 mins drive from the town centre (or a $5 taxi ride, please make sure it’s a 4x4 as the mountainous terrain to the house requires it) the Cabaña Morada would suit couples, nature lovers, hikers, people who enjoy peace and the joys of country living.
Fast wi-fi and excellent work stations with views make it perfect for those working whilst traveling.

Guest access
Guests are free to enjoy swimming in our natural swimming pool and jump on our trampoline.
We have a large sand box too which children are welcome to enjoy.

Other things to note
Stock up on food on your way up as there aren't any shops up here. We provide you with the basic salt/pepper, toilet paper and drinking water. (our tap water comes directly from the lakes of the Podocarpus National Park, however we supply a five gallons purified water bottle for those who refuse to drink tap water in South America)

Though we have a few neighbours, you are more likely to interact with humming birds, frogs and wild rabbits, neighbouring cows and sheep than with people up here.

Hello! My husband and I are an Italian-Irish mix. We set off from London in 2010 with a plan of traveling South America in our backpack. A year later we ended up embracing a rural life in Vilcabamba,Ecuador. We bought land, built our house and the dwelling you'll be living at, and planted over 500 coffee plants in the hope to pursue our coffee production dream. We have two sweet cats named Basilio and Sasa, a loyal guardian dog called T-Man and a copper rooster, George, always sitting on the roof of our house. We are friendly and open-minded, We love: new cultures, old furniture, red wine, strong coffee, the sound of humming birds, the spanish word for purring (=ronronear) We don't love: selfishness, holes in socks, overcooked pasta, blockbuster movies, 80's music.
