The wall tent sits on a raised deck surrounded by lodgepole pines and a few scattered firs on my one-acre property. The rustic structures blend naturally with the forested surroundings as much of the building materials have been collected from the local area. With the west entrance to Glacier National Park just six miles down the road, the tent makes an excellent home base for your outdoor adventure!

The space
Have all the essential comforts of home with nature at your doorstep! The wall tent features a full-size bed with a new mattress, electricity, wifi, and wood stove inside. The property is decorated with pieces from a local artist and friend, as well as salvaged furniture from the Flathead Valley's vibrant thrift culture. Just outside you can enjoy a private fire ring and hammock for relaxing. In the communal areas, you'll find the kitchen deck, food storage shed, outhouse with flushing toilet, and outdoor heated shower.
The kitchen is equipped with a propane cooktop, grill, microwave, coffee maker, fridge, cooking basics, and dishwashing sink. Simple breakfast items such as breads, butter, and jam are included with your stay. A variety of books, board games, and hiking guides can be found in the seating area on the kitchen deck. We also have several bikes you can borrow. They're a great way to explore the Coram area!

Guest access
The wall tent and yard you will have to yourself. The kitchen deck, storage shed, outhouse, and outdoor shower are shared with the tipi guests.

Other things to note
Trains: The BNSF railroad runs nearby and earplugs are provided in the tent should you need them. There is also a crossing to access the neighborhood and the trains occasionally stop at it, which can cause delays of no more than 15 minutes.
Bear Safety: While bear sightings in the neighborhood are exceedingly rare, we do take precautions to keep it that way. We ask that you do not store any food or scented items (toothpaste, soap, etc.) inside the tent. We provide storage bins in the secure shed for you to use, or items can be kept in your car. Please do not throw away any food items in the small tent trashcan - use the secure trashcans in the kitchen area. Please use caution when drinking flavored beverages inside the tent to avoid spills. Bear spray is provided and you are welcome to take it with you to the park during your stay.
Construction: I am in the process of finishing my house and may be using power tools during the day.

The tent is situated on my one-acre property in a forested neighborhood. The West entrance to Glacier National Park is just six miles away. Although Coram is small, it offers local gems such as the Stonefly Lounge and Glacier Distillery. A bike path stretches along the 2 highway between Hungry Horse and the park entrance. We have bikes you can borrow to explore the area! The town of Columbia Falls is about 25 minutes away and has grocery stores and other businesses you may need.

I grew up in the south and first came to Glacier to work a summer at the Many Glacier Hotel in 2006. It was an amazing experience that led me to dream of one day owning a piece of Glacier country of my own. It took nearly a decade of meandering seasonal work but the dream became reality a few years ago. I was also fortunate enough in my seasonal "career" to stumble into a job maintaining historic backcountry buildings in Glacier for the Park Service. This experience added a dimension to the dream of building my own home on the property. It's been quite an adventure, and I've made a lot of changes since I bought my humble little acre plot in October of 2015. Not much of a long term planner (hence the seasonal lifestyle), my idea of what the place is and will be seems to co-evolve with the place itself, and it's been a fun and interesting process to watch. Come on out and have a look for yourself; I think you'll enjoy your time here.

During your stay
My co-host and I are often available around the property if you have any issues. We are also happy to provide local recommendations. I've worked several jobs in the park over the last 10 years and can tell you just about everything you need to know. I've had some great experiences meeting and hanging out with guests since I started this venture (including hosting a wedding!) and it's something I always enjoy and am happy to partake in. I also realize though that some folks who book with me are looking for real solitude, and I'm happy to provide that as well.
