The 1898 Cottage is a wonderful place to stay while in Bardstown. In the past, we have stayed in local hotels while visiting Bardstown; fortunately we were able to stay in this wonderful house. Mary Ellen goes above the call of duty in offering a squeaky clean, well appointed house full of Southern charm. The house is located very close to downtown, as we left the car behind and walked to the square and all the cool shops and restaurants.

Our stay here was wonderful. Mary Ellen’s charming little cottage provided a cozy stay for me and my husband on our trip to Bourbon Country. Just enough space for the two of us. The property was located within walking distance to the downtown Bardstown area (even though it was too cold during our stay to walk anywhere!), and the area was super quiet, providing for a good night’s sleep in between our adventures. There was a lovely basket of snacks welcoming us when we arrived which was much appreciated since we arrived very late on our checkin date. A book detailing local restaurants and attractions was provided and gave us some great local tips. And Mary Ellen was quick to respond regarding a question about the water heater. I definitely recommend this if you’re looking for a romantic getaway to Bourbon Country - we would love to stay here again if we return to the area!

This was by far one of my favorite stays. No detail was overlooked in this cozy cottage! It was so comfortable, clean and inviting I didn't want to say goodbye! Very walkable to the central downtown area restaurants. We will definitely be staying here again when we decide to do another tour on the Bourbon Trail.

I wish I could give ten stars! Amazing place with added touches in decor and comfort that were greatly appreciated. Loved the privacy given to us, in a nice quiet neighborhood within walking distance to the quaint little town. So clean, super comfy bed, plush towels and extra snacks, too! The historic house itself has been remodeled with quality in mind, yet you "feel" the history of it. Love love love this little house - so romantic for my husband and I. Thank you so much!!! Will be coming again next fall.

Mary Ellen's place was cute, clean, comfortable, and convenient. The special touches--tea, coffee, water, snacks--made us feel at home. Here is a cottage in one of America's favorite small towns in the heart of Kentucky. Lovely.
