If you are dreaming to escape the city to the serenity of a water running in the creek among big trees and mountain hills, where at night you can see the stars with a cup of warm tea in hand, this is the place. A house among big trees, a creek running under the porch, an open night sky above. Jimmy and Hortensia are the best hosts you can wish for. They open not only their home, but their hearts and souls to strangers and treat them as family. We were a diverse group of guests from five different nationalities and three continents, but for one night we were just like a family seating in Jimmy and Hortensia's home and having fun to the sound of drums, maracas and table spoons. And it felt like we knew each other forever. With their warmth, laugh and humor our hosts united us as a family. And if you don't mind the minimal extra charge you are up for the best home cooked meal, fresh, savory and healthy. You will not be disappointed, Jimmy and Hortensia will serve you a meal cooked with home grown spices and with a dash of love. We had the most relaxing weekend in a very long time. Thank you, Jimmy and Hortensia! P.S. Also, don't forget your bathing suit so you could visit the California Hot Springs, just couple of miles down the road.

Jimmy & Hortensia have a lovely, scenic little getaway set in the heart of forest covered mountains. Easy access to the national parks and amazing drives all around. Our stay was comfortable and relaxing. The house had an interesting collection of curios, memorabilia and books! Sad to have missed meeting the hosts, but we were in constant communication and they were very responsive. Highly recommend staying here! Will definitely visit again.

This was my second time staying at their lovely home. Sadly Jimmy wasn't in town, although Hortensia and I had a couple wonderful conversations. They are both so full of wisdom and life. This is the perfect place to come relax and just get away from the city for a couple days.

What a phenomenal place! Highly recommend. The property is stunning, with a babbling stream to the side of the house that even has two good swimming areas and a beautiful waterfall. There is a porch at the end of the property looking out over the mountains (perfect for sunset). The main outdoor sitting area has an authentic stone hearth oven (ask about Jimmy's pizzas) and a covered sitting area. Way behind the house is a chicken coup, so there are delicious fresh eggs but you don't hear or smell them unless you walk up that way. Both Jimmy and Hortensia were so kind and welcoming. They made us feel like family from the first time they contacted us. And, their house is beautiful. The location is great. It has the beautiful stream, has two hiking areas a minute away, and is only a 2ish hour drive to Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Park.

Our stay at Jimmy and Hortensia's place was nothing short of amazing. We dint meet Hortensia as she was traveling, but Jimmy was a great host. He even cooked for us on our first night of stay there. Jimmy's pizza cooked in his very own stone over was yum. He was very kind to let us use his kitchen and all the decks. Kids had amazing time playing in waterfall, picking their own eggs in the morning. The place is extremely beautiful and they are working on making waterfall even more accessible. We also saw deers wandering around on the property. 100 giants trail is only a 25-30 mins drive, but Sequoia national park is quiet a bit drive (2-2.5 hours) from this place. We loved the experience of living very close to nature and also getting to know a great person and his stories. Highly recommended!!!
