This self-contained studio is a converted saw mill dating from the 1750s. Set in a stunning location in the Peak District by the River Dove there is excellent walking in all directions right from the doorstep. There is a traditional English pub 50m away serving real ales and good food whilst Longnor with its cafes, shops and pubs is a mile away. The towns of Buxton, Bakewell and Leek are within 10 miles with Ashbourne 15 miles. This makes an ideal base for exploring the area or just relaxing.

The space

The studio has its own separate entrance and is well equipped with a new double bed, a sofa, table and chairs and clothes storage and spacious en-suite shower room. We provide fresh bed linen and towels. There is Wi-Fi and a Freeview TV with DVD/CD player. The kitchen has a microwave/grill, fridge with ice box, kettle, toaster and 2-ring hob as well as pots, pans, cafetiere, crockery and glasses. Basics for washing up, salt/pepper and cooking oil are provided. There are hooks for coats and space for muddy boots. The studio is a good size and has plenty of character including beams. There are also a few DVDs, games and books/maps of the local area including the local bus timetable.

Guest access

The property is an annexe of our home. Guests are welcome to use our garden and enjoy the glorious views of Chrome Hill and the River Dove. There is a layby adjacent to the property where you can park. We will ensure you have tea, coffee and milk for your arrival. The delightful Pack Horse Inn is a stone's throw away and opens Wed-Sun for food and drinks.

Interaction with guests

We will be available when you check in and will just be next door if you need anything during your stay, someone will be around most of the time. We are happy to offer suggestions for local walks or other exploration locally or further afield . We are sociable people but will respect your privacy during your stay.

Other things to note

There is a village shop selling essential supplies in Longnor, a Post Office/deli, 2 cafes and a fish and chip shop (1 mile away). The Pack Horse Inn is 2 minutes walk away (closed Mon/Tue) with other pubs in Earl Sterndale, Longnor and Hurdlow.

Very highly recommend this location and home for a quiet visit to the Peak District. The pub across the road is excellent - we ended up going each night we stayed for great food and friendly service. We picked this location by chance and were rewarded with our favourite views in England that we've seen. Pip and Dave were such lovely hosts - offering helpful tips, including when we were a little lost on a drive and happened to bump into them.

Response from Pip:
Hi Rob, thanks for the feedback about the shower, we adjusted it as feedback from guests was that it was too hot in the summer but we will check it again. Pip
