Where you’ll be

Charlotte, North Carolina, United States

Our neighborhood, Spicewood Acres, is small and dates from the 1970s. However, this part of the county has a much older history. The nearby town of Mint Hill, established in 1750, celebrates its European heritage with the Scottish Festival and Highland Games. The Mint Hill Historical Society oversees a living history museum, complete with an assay house (gold was once minted in Charlotte), a country doctor's office, and other historic buildings. For a snapshot of things to do, check out Charlotte Agenda's online article by Tim Long. The town also has a locally-owned weekly newspaper and independent printing press. This part of Mecklenburg County is diverse and thriving; we love it here.

We are a little more than half a mile from three small shopping centers that include fast food restaurants (McDonalds, Subway, Pizza Hut, KFC, Bojangles, Taco Bell, Chinese take-out), two drug stores (RiteAid and Walgreens), a grocery store (Food Lion), two gas stations, Valvoline, the Mint Hill post office, a dry cleaner, two consignment shops, Wells Fargo, two fitness businesses (dance and MMA), and UrbanAir, which is a huge trampoline / indoor sports center. The town center of Mint Hill is two miles away.

Five minutes away you'll find a laundromat (our rental does not include a washer & dryer), two good groceries (Publix and Harris Teeter) as well as the German grocery chain, Lidl.

During your stay

We live in the main house which is separated from the Air BnB apartment by an interior door (door locks on owners' side). One of us is usually home, so please text with any questions or concerns. You are welcome to explore the creeks and pastures. We have a "wine room" that provides a nice view of the property. It's not actually a room, but an Adirondack bench at the top of a small hill. A good place to take a bottle of wine in the evening to relax. A family member named our home "Windy Hill" due to the frequent breezes.
