This cul-de-sac settlement is like a secret hideaway from the chaos of life. A 45 minute drive to Taupo, 45 minute drive to Whakapapa ski field carpark. In Summer the local Floating Rock Vineyard has a cafe and pizza restaurant. This is mere minutes drive from the house. Alternatively a fine dining restaurant Oreti is a ten minute drive away in Pukawa and this is open all year round. The local store serves coffee and ice-cream and the kids can walk to this without having to cross any roads. They have a chip van there for easy dinners. There is also a cute playground a few minutes walk from the house. There is kayak rental down by the Kuratau river you might want to avail of, the lake is crystal clear and there are several pontoons to swim to from shore, hot pools, boat ramps, beaches to pull up to and explore. Kayak or drive around to Lakeland House for a coffee or lunch or just some chips and beers on the way home from Taupo.

The house sleeps 8 (plus two camp beds if needs be.) There's a powerful wood burner. Firewood and kindling are supplied. The dog from across the road will probably come to say hello. His owner likes a quiet life so we respectfully ask you not to have a party or play loud music very late at night. Thank you and enjoy everything about this location that we love.

We are a family of four who immigrated to New Zealand from Ireland and England back in 2002. We wanted our kids to experience a very outdoor lifestyle and the weather here permits that. Buying our lake house gives them year round access to outdoor fun activities like rafting, fishing, mountain biking, skiing and tramping. Then there is swimming, water skiing and biscuiting! Lucky kids!
