Why stay in a generic hotel when you can stay in a house built in 1782 in the heart of Milford? This private apartment has modern comforts blended artfully with original architectural features in this quintessential New England Colonial. Fall asleep in our luxurious beds, surrounded by hand hewn beams, pegged construction, antique hardware, and the incredible 15ft tall barn door, that still glides open almost effortlessly! Recharge in your sauna and enjoy this historic and peaceful retreat.
There are three bedrooms, each with its own inspiring theme, there is the tree room, the spring room and the winter room. All feature beautiful decor, centuries old architecture, comfortable beds, luxury bedding, blackout curtains, and are a perfect place for a sound night's rest. There is an extra large shower with a bench and 2 person sauna unit in the bamboo room, with a separate toilet and sink across the hall. Never worry about parking, you have access a large, private parking lot that will easily park six cars, exclusively for your personal use. For your comfort, there is central heat and air conditioning, and you control of the thermostat. The cozy living room has a Blue Ray DVD player, and a 42" flat screen HDTV. Pull the massive barn door over the entrance, using the same force it takes to slide a closet door, for the ultimate experience in pre-revolutionary engineering and craftsmanship. The efficiency kitchen features a copper fronted microwave, a two burner hot plate, a six slice toaster oven, professional size Keurig stocked with coffee, tea, cider and hot chocolate, and a stainless steel bar fridge. Enjoy the free wifi. This is a ground floor unit, but has a small single step into the apartment. There is a comfortable loveseat/bench outside to sit close to the largest white oak in Hillsborough county, which is thought to be even older than the house!
This is a separate apartment, with three bedrooms, a kitchenette, and a small sitting room, a sauna and shower, and a separate half toilet room. You have approximately 1000 sq feet of space. There is a large yard, not fenced, on the side of the apartment and a six car parking lot that you have private use of. There is a room separating the apartment from the family house, so sound doesn't travel between our home and your space. You have a private entrance and there is no shared space. We do have an internal door that connects our space with yours, but it is kept locked.
Interaction with guests
We live in the rest of this approximately 8,000 sq ft house and we are happy to help make your stay as comfortable and pleasant as possible! I look forward to meeting you and giving you a brief tour when you arrive. If you need anything or have questions just text, we may cross paths in the yard, but often you won't even know we're there!
I am a friendly, outgoing homebody, who loves to travel. I have a passion for decorating and sharing my amazing 8,000 sqft, 249 year old colonial house. I see myself as a custodian of this historic building, I lovingly maintain it and want to hand it to the next generation in good shape! I am a stealth geek and am semi retired. I have 3 degrees, one each in Fine Art, Science and Medicine.
I am from Quebec in Canada originally and speak French. I have studied Italian and German, but that was a long time ago! I have lived in Canada, Switzerland, France and the US, and have travelled to most continents. My parents were part of a group that promoted international peace and understanding through travel and hosting, so in the 70's and 80's we hosted many international travellers on our family farm, and we were hosted as we travelled too! To me AirBnB is a new version of this concept.
I love murder mysteries, Sci Fi, animals, high tea, and pet names. My life can be summed up with "Life is what happens when you are busy making plans". I aspire to live up to this quote - "Life is mostly froth and bubble, but two things stand like stone, kindness in another's trouble and courage in your own" AL Gordon.
Happy travels and I look forward to meeting you!
