Villa Castagno is set in Uscio, 25 miles from Cristoforo Colombo Airport.

It is perched on the hills overlooking the valley of Uscio, in an idyllic scenic and secluded setting, and it is only 15 minutes from the beautiful beaches on the coast.

The villa is perfect for everyone: families with children, couples on romantic breaks, writers looking for inspiration, and anyone seeking a fun and relaxing holiday away from the hustle and bustle of the world – but still close enough to it.

The space

On the ground floor, there is an open plan kitchen (fully equipped with oven, microwave and dishwasher) and living/dining room with library, while the first floor features a bedroom with a double and single bed, a master bedroom, a large bathroom, a walk-in wardrobe and a private balcony. Outside, you'll find a patio area, a swimming pool and an extensive garden with plenty of space for relaxing or playing games.

Towels and linens, WiFi, coffee pods and tea bags - and an enchanting view - are on the house.

Guest access

Guests can use a fully equipped kitchen, washing machine, TV with Netflix, swimming pool, parking space, garden.

Interaction with guests

Nelly and Attilio live on the site, but Villa Castagno has its own private entrance.
You may see them around in the early morning keeping the garden and the pool clean and tidy, or working in the vegetable garden.
Should you need anything, you can ask Nelly (she speaks English) or contact me.

Other things to note

Villa Castagno is also the perfect base to explore our region, Liguria, with its long history and stunning natural beauty. The famous coastal town of Portofino, for example, is only 17 miles away, while the city of Genoa is 18 miles away.
We'll send you a list of unmissable places you should visit, and other tips to make your stay in Liguria worthwhile - including where to eat, of course :)

We enjoyed the house, very functional and the swimming-pool. We also enjoyed the calm and very peaceful situation, well-located if you want to visit the Cinque Terre and the Liguria region. And your parents Attilio and Nelly who live very closed are always very helpful for everything.

This is a very comfortable Villa. Exactly as detailed in the listing. The communication on booking was superb. Fast response, lots of help and tips, including a very detailed email of the area. As listed the Villa is isolated from a Village which in in itself is 20min drive from the nearest town. Perfect if you want isolation or don't mind driving. There is no airconditioning, which again is as listed. The hosts live on site and are very kind, friendly and helpful. Take their recommendation for restaurants as generally the coast's restaurant food is not as good as in other Italian regions. Too many tourists! However the owners know the best places to eat. The pool is well situated to give a magnificent view of the valley and village below. We recieved a thoughtful welcome of some local cheeses and a bottle of local wine. Both of which were delicious. There is coffe provided and an excellent espresso machine. Unless you absloutely need a big car try to hire a small to medium one as the roads up to the village are narrow and bendy and the driveway to the house is very steep. Genoa is a great place to visit.

'If you don't come back home, we'll rent out your room', my parents used to say.
I didn't take them seriously: I left Italy in 2009, lived in Australia for a few years and then settled in London.
But they meant it.
And now they are renting out not just my room, but the whole family home, the house they built when I was little.
I thought I should help them, so here I am.
My parents, Nelly and Attilio, will look after you while you are there, and I will assist with the booking and planning of your holiday. My mum speaks good English, but I am always just a text away in case you need help (I also happen to know a lot of nice places for an 'aperitivo', if it's useful).
When I am not helping my parents keeping their word, I work as a journalist for a magazine in London and try to travel as much as I can.
