One double room with comfortable king size bed and ensuite shower room. The room is simply decorated, with prints by my daughter, Laura Kingswood, on the walls.
The bedroom is on the ground floor at the rear of the house, overlooking the back garden and hills and is separate from the rest of the house, apart from the lounge, which is opposite, where you can enjoy a self-serve Continental breakfast, looking out to sea and the islands.

Contrary to all the positive reviews, it saddens me to say that our stay at Sgiath House was not a positive one. First impressions were good, but the room was dusty and in need of a deep clean. Surfaces, the carpet and the sofa were key areas that were covered in hair and dust. T…

As you know, I was upset by your attitude. When you said you would arrive two hours before my stated entry time I made no comment and re-arranged my afternoon, putting off a family visit so I could be here when you wanted to arrive. I was also amenable to getting up to provide you an early breakfast before you got the ferry. You were in your room for five hours before deciding to tell me you did not find it up to your mother’s high standards of cleanliness and expecting me to do something about it at 9.00 at night, whilst I was in the middle of my dinner (which I had no stomach to finish afterwards). You demonstrated dust on a picture ledge and on top but I couldn’t see any dust on your finger. When I went round the surfaces with a cloth, including the pictures, I didn’t pick up any dust. The room had been dusted the previous day, the chair and rug had been vacuumed, the floors mopped and the bathroom thoroughly cleaned. I didn’t see the mark or hair in the shower or on the toilet seat and, if there had been, I can only apologise. Both had been cleaned. I had a night of very poor sleep, as I was so upset by being made to feel like a really naughty schoolgirl who had to be made to learn her lesson. I found it difficult to be cheery over breakfast as I was close to tears. I accept that may not have been very professional. Equally, this is not a hotel I am running and I am not a professional, though I have been involved in hospitality part-time, having self catering accommodation, for 27 years. Before leaving you said you wanted to “draw a line under it” as you could see I was upset. It seems you changed your mind about that. This is my first negative experience in 7 months as an Airbnb host and it certainly makes me wonder about the virtues of sharing my home with strangers. I have been fortunate to have many, many wonderful and appreciative guests up till now. This leaves a very sour taste. I’m sure you will make a very particular lawyer - nothing will be allowed to get by you or go unpunished. I hope you may mature into someone who is a little less critical, more forgiving and less harsh - I’m sure you will feel better for it yourself.

If you need a comfortable bed for the night in a quiet location with lovely views over the islands, then this is a reasonable choice. Suits couples or single people who like quiet locations and minimal interaction. Breakfast is a Continental affair. Reasonable food at the Arisaig…

My daughter and I had a wonderful stay at Sheila’s. The room was spacious and spotlessly clean. The breakfast was a highlight - freshly baked rolls and pastries, cured meats and cheeses, yogurt, granola and stewed fruit and watermelon. Would definitely recommend. Thanks Sheila!
