Retreat to this 2 bedroom bungalow with modern amenities & century old charm, located in a secluded neighborhood with easy driving access to the zoo, downtown Omaha, Bellevue, & Offutt. Walk 2 blks to Fontenelle Forest. The sunroom has 2 fold down sofas & original French doors for additional sleeping area. Relax on the back deck & catch a glimpse of the neighbor's chickens, hang out inside & prepare a meal in the fantastic kitchen, or chill on the leather couch with the 48" smart TV.
Beautiful 1914 bungalow filled with original woodwork and details, with many modern updates. 2 Bedrooms (1 queen bed, 2 twin beds) and 1 full bathroom. There are plenty of seating options in the sunroom (the 2 fold down sofas can sleep 2-4 more with closing original French doors for privacy), living room, dining room with table that seats 6 easily with an added leaf, and bar/workspace with stools. Or hang out outside on the front porch or have a great sunset view from the back deck. Fabulous remodeled kitchen with gas stove (we're still putting some finishing touches on in the pantry, but the space is fully functional). With just over 1000 sq ft interior space all on one level (there are several steps to enter/exit property), it's a perfect solo/couples retreat, co-workers lodging, or gathering space for up to six overnight guests. No parties.
The living room has cable including HBO (you can talk to the remote to change the channel) and a 48" smart TV with Netflix. You are welcome to stream or connect to any services you have also.
You'll have the entire main level, front porch, back deck, and driveway to yourselves. House is nestled in a secluded neighborhood on a quiet side street, just off a main road. Two long blocks from Fontenelle Forest (~1/4 mile) means there are frequently yard guests such as deer, many bird varieties including turkeys, as well as rabbits, fox, etc. There's a gravel driveway for off street parking, which can hold ~3-4 vehicles. You can use the front and side yards, but the backyard is steeper and rougher terrain, currently with slabs of wood stacked and drying, and not suitable for children or running around. I'm an artist and sometimes use the detached garage and basement (separate entrance) for projects, but generally will not be on property while you are there, unless you request me to be, or to maintain the work-in-progress garden (which you are welcome to anything growing in the summer), yard, or outdoor projects, etc. The neighbors have chickens and bees, and we don't use chemicals in our yard that could harm the bees, other insects, food, or you.
Other things to note
There are train tracks down the hill about 1/2 a mile, with active trains that whistle while going through town. If you are a light sleeper, I'd recommend bringing earplugs, in case they roll by at night.
The back door locks automatically when closed, unless manually unlocked (in addition to unlocking with key). So make sure you unlock door or bring key with you when going outside. The front door has a keypad deadbolt lock with keyless entry.
The exterior is currently a farmhouse shabby chic look :) Depending on the weather, we might be done spiffing it up for this season, but it’s possible we may be around to work on exterior’s "vintage patina" on a nice day.
As noted elsewhere, I usually have remnants of some art and/or garden projects in the backyard and use the garage and basement, so those areas are off limits unless there's something interesting to see, in which case I would be happy to give you a guided tour.
Quiet hours 10pm-8am
No parties or large groups
Absolutely no smoking indoors. If you must smoke, please do so in the back outside and don't bring butts inside the house.
Leave beds unmade, used towels on hooks or floor, any used blankets unfolded upon your departure.
Please use coasters under all beverages, especially on wood surfaces.
Check yourself in with the keyless coded entry and message me you've arrived in the house, I generally won't be around in person unless desired, or to maintain yard/art projects. I'm available via text/phone/messaging before, during, and after your stay, please don't hesitate to contact me if you need something, or if there are any issues at the house. I'm usually close by or have someone who can be.
