Where you’ll be

Denton, Texas, United States

Our pocket neighborhood is an eclectic mix of retired home owners, young professionals, and college students. We only a few blocks from downtown Denton and literally across the street from Texas Womans University. Most houses in our neighborhood are craftsman style homes built in the early to middle 1900's. Several on our block, including ours, have been restored. The neighborhood is stable, safe, and under constant patrol by TWU police.

My wife Liz and I live next to TWU where she serves as professor in dental hygiene. I am a retired international missions pastor serving as a leader at Redeemer Church of Denton. I've had the privilege to work with churches in Russia, South America, Africa, and the Caribbean. We have 3 wonderful adult children and 3 beautiful grandchildren. Liz and I love to take getaway trips and stay in other Airbnb guesthouses. She shops antique stores while I sit on a park bench and read a good book! In 2005, we acquired this property next to TWU which allows Liz to walk across the street to her office. Initially we restored the hundred year old main house as our primary residence. In recent years, we built the guesthouse and landscaped our the backyard as a bird/butterfly sanctuary. We enjoy extending hospitality to our guests with the hope that they have a restful stay. One of our favorite songs is 'What a Wonderful World' by Louie Armstrong. Our life motto is do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

During your stay

Jim is available to receive guests and is accessible during their stay. His wife Liz also loves to meet the guests - which often occurs in the driveway as they come and go! We are careful to respect the privacy of our guests and to social distance with masks for health reasons. But we enjoy getting to know you and, if time permits, have a brief visit!
