Other things to note
Shopping
You will find whatever you need, especially shoes, toys, rugs and products with a guarantee of origin and quality mark, such as turron and wine

Handicrafts and innovative designs are sold side-by-side in a province that is a pioneer in the manufacturing of shoes, bags, rugs, toys and an endless list of other products, including turron, ice-cream and wines with a guarantee of origin and quality mark.

In addition to the traditional markets selling high-quality fresh food, such as the Mercado Central in Alicante, visitors can find a number of street markets selling handicrafts, such as the one in Altea, and flea markets, such as the one in La Nucia, as well as establishments which sell handicrafts with innovative designs. Other interesting markets include El Campico in Guardamar, the one in Xaló, El Cisne in Benidorm and those held in Santa Faz and the town hall square in Alicante.

Maisonnave is the most popular shopping street in Alicante, while Elche and Elda are the shoe capitals of Spain, where designs for the most famous shoe brands in the world are made in Elche's industrial park and the shoe outlet route in Elda. Their products also include bags and other accessories. Crevillent is a paradise for rugs, containing an endless number of shops, while Ibi is famous for its toy industry and related products.

The turron sold in Alicante is a symbol of quality and excellence. The turron made in Jijona has a guarantee of origin and quality mark, as do its ice-creams, which come in a variety of innovative flavours. Alicante's wines have also obtained international awards and can be purchased in the province's numerous wineries, which you can also visit and do some wine tasting thanks to the so-called Wine Route.

Golf

World champions such as Severiano Ballesteros and José María Olazábal have put their stamp on some of the 22 golf courses in the province
Alicante is dying itself green. The 22 golf courses located throughout the province (three of which are Pitch&Putt) have turned the Costa Blanca into an international reference for playing golf. Not only for the quality of its grass but also for the services offered, both in terms of accommodation and restaurants as well as complementary leisure activities. The short distance which separates the various golf courses and the good road connections offer golf lovers the opportunity to try different golf courses throughout their stay, choosing between courses with sea views or surrounded by spectacular mountain ranges and valleys. These golf courses include practice areas, for beginners and for those who are looking to improve their technique, as well as complex holes which turn into genuine challenges during the various competitions which take place in the Costa Blanca.

However, the Costa Blanca's main attraction for golf lovers is its climate, enabling golfers to play golf all year round. This was taken into account when world champions such as Severiano Ballesteros, José María Olazábal and Jack Nicklaus designed some of the golf courses located between Denia and Orihuela. It is an excellent opportunity to get to know the nearby towns and to enjoy the region's different leisure activities, gastronomy and culture, which caters for all tastes.
