In the heart of the Sabina region, only 30 miles far from Rome (easily reachable by frequent city-trains), La Farfallina is a very quite country-house surrounded by a garden with lawns, trees and flowers, fully equipped, carefully furnished and placed in the middle of the large olive- grove of La Farfalla Organic Farm.
Outside La Farfallina has a large terrace equipped with table and chairs and large sunshade. On the back side an external shower is placed.
Inside, the living room with fire place has a comfortable sofa-bed, TV-SAT and CD reader. The kitchen is fully equipped: electric oven, refrigerator with freezer and a dishwashing machine.
There are two sleeping rooms that can be arranged both with king size bed or with two single beds. A further single bed or a baby bed can be added on request in one sleeping room. The sleeping rooms have on the ceiling two air fans able to cool the hottest summer days and nights.
The bathroom has a shower and a washing machine.
In their stay at La Farfallina, the guests will have the opportunity to plunge and swim from may to September, in the pure water of a very special organic swimming pool, without chloride and purified by hundreds of water plants and flowers. In the garden, there are a large barbecue, where the guests can cook the special beefs of local production and a bowls field. Two mountain-bykes are available and, in the surroundings, there are many miles of wonderful paths with various levels of difficulty, showed by wodden signposts. Possibility to organize trekking, horse riding or even simple walks, with the aim to visit places of high historical or naturalistic interest ( Farfa river canyon, ancient roman country villas, rock churches, etc. ) and also to attend short classes about olive oil and honey production, herbal or fruit liqueurs preparation, cooking recipes of Sabina gastronomy.
In their stay at La Farfallina , the guests will have the opportunity to taste the famous organic extravirgin olive oil "Casale La Farfalla", produced by the owners in their own olive mill through a cold pressing process of the olives coming from the olive-groves of the Farm.
The benedictine Abbey of Farfa ( 6th century ) with its wonderful library is less than half a mile far; other towns and villages nearby with their medieval historical centers: Castelnuovo di Farfa, Fara sabina, Montopoli in Sabina, Toffia hold rich witnesses of the culture, the art and the tradition ( even gastronomical ) of the Sabina Region, where a lot of festivals and gastronomical or cultural events are on stage in all periods of the year. Rome is easily reachable by a frequent city- train from a station at only 15 minutes and Umbria and Tuscany regions are less than 80 miles far away. Within a few tens of miles there are also several thermal centers with hot and cold waters ( Viterbo, Rieti, Tivoli ) and well known and equipped spas. On the arrival, a complete information kit will be supplied with suggestions about cultural sites, restaurants, interesting places, all with detailed road maps.
