The Gatehouse is a semi-detached 2 bedroom cottage in the stunning village of Glenfinnan. The cottage has had extensive renovation this year and is now available for those seeking a holiday in Scotland. Guests have easy walking distance to two excellent restaurants; the railway station with its museum and diner and is close by to the NTS Glenfinnan monument visitor centre. The cottage provides an excellent base to explore the west coast, the islands and Skye.

The space

The cottage is well equipped with fridge-freezer, microwave, washer and dryer in the kitchen. There is a bathroom with shower and a wet room downstairs. The two bedrooms (with one double & two adult single beds) are upstairs. In the living room, we will leave you with the means to enjoy an open fire for cosy evenings. There is a smart TV and we have a licence so you can watch BBC i-Player guilt free. There is a place to securely store bikes if needed. The garden area is being reconstructed so not yet suitable for young children. We can be flexible on check in and out times depending on whether new guests are expected. If you have any special requests - please just ask!

We had a lovely, relaxing weeks holiday at The Gatehouse. Alistair was an excellent host and ensured we had everything we needed. The cottage was charming, cosy and well appointed and it was lovely to have a log fire on an autumn evening. The location is fantastic, with the Prince's House hotel restaurant/bar just over the road, as well as the pretty Glenfinnan train station (where you can catch trains on the scenic Fort William to Mallaig line and see the Jacobite steam train go past twice a day). Just a short stroll to the banks of beautiful Loch Shiel and the welcoming Glenfinnan House Hotel where we enjoyed a fantastic meal and the last music night of the season with the Glenfinnan Ceilidh Band! There was lots to see and do around the wider area and we would highly recommend The Gatehouse!

Fiona and Alistair are absolutely excellent hosts. The perfect balance of being there for everything we needed (and more) while at the same time giving us our own space. Very highly recommended The house is immaculate and very comfortable We can also highly recommend the Prince's Hotel which is about 50 yards - we had 2 excellent meals there!

The Gatehouse is a great base for exploring the Glen Coe/Fort William area. It was a great spot for catching the Jacobite stem engine and taking a lovely walk to the viaduct - beautiful views (even when its raining). It has all the facilities you need and few little extras.

Great place to stay. Clean and awesome views. Very close to the Glenfinnon Viaduct. A nice hike and then you can get some great pictures. Nothing bad to say about this place.

Fantastic AirBnB! Cozy, well-equipped house with two very modern bathrooms, fireplace, lovely terrace with a nice view. Well-located with the option of multiple walks just around the corner. The area is absolutely beautiful. The kitchen had everything our group of 4 could wish for. We loved the little touches and were never short of anything. Very comfortable beds, too. The checkin was very good and both Fiona and Alistair were great with communication. We would definitely book again and can strongly recommend this cozy house! Book it. When you get there, really don't rely neither on your satnav nor on the airbnb link to (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN)maps. Just follow their instructions!

The gatehouse is very tastefully decorated with a fantastic kitchen for self catering. Fiona is really helpful and accommodating. We only had a short stay but would have loved more. Everything was perfect. Thanks Fiona.

Fiona's place is a great base for exploring the Glen Coe/Fort William area. It was a great spot for catching the Jacobite stem engine and also taking the lovely walk to the viaduct - the expectations I'd had of wandering the highlands were exceeded on this walk! It has all the facilities you need - plus a few extra touches! It was great value for the four of us and dealing with Fiona and her husband was easy. Highly recommend.

Alistair & I have lived in Glenfinnan for over 30 years and we can't imagine living anywhere else. Alistair is estate manager for Glenfinnan Estate so if there is anything you want to know about deer or forestry or hydro power - he's your man! It's hard getting Alistair away from Glenfinnan but I like to travel a bit. A solo camper van trip through Europe in 2015 satisfied my travel lust for a while but I always have my passport handy!
We live on the local highland estate and one day hope to retire to the Gatehouse. For the last 20 years we have opened our forever home to holiday guests, friends, tenants and visitors. We were able to upgrade and update the Gatehouse this year and hope all our guests enjoy it as much as we hope we will in the future.
