This historic 3-bedroom / 1,200-square-foot carriage house built in 1911 is located in Richmond's fabulously fun Fan district. Filled with light and charm, it is the perfect spot for a weekend getaway — and also ideal for a long-term stay for those coming to town to work for a week/month.

The space

The house features three bedrooms and a full bath upstairs; downstairs is the living and dining areas, powder room, and beautiful new kitchen that has a quaint side porch for sipping coffee or wine. Downstairs in the basement, you'll find the washer / dryer.

Carytown and the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA) are a 6-block walk. The famous Joe's Inn is a block away — across from Shields Market, which is the perfect place to pick up salads and sandwiches, beer, wine and cheese, juices, milk, and more. Of course, there's no shortage of great restaurants and bars in the Fan, all of which are a short walk away. And of course, there is the riverfront, which is 4 miles away.

Park your car and hoof it, or hop on a bike and tool around town — all from this ideally located, adorable home.

Hope’s place is a great place because it is a central hub where you not only can find a lot of restaurant choices, but accessible to many stores like Target and some super markets. Once you go inside, you’ll notice that it’s very clean and organized. There will be a lot of “Post-It” notes giving instructions of what to do, what not to do and ect. The living room has an Apple TV and a DVD player attached to a Flat Screen TV. So for entertainment you can watch movies on the DVD player or use the Apple TV and watch movies using Netflix. The kitchen is immaculate in that there’s basic tools and such that you need. The cleaning supplies are underneath the sink and there are some that’s behind the door that leads to a laundry room. The only things that causes some attention are that the parking situation can be tricky. There is a lot across from the house that you can park there from Monday thru Friday’s anytime after 5PM, but you need to move your vehicle out of that spot by 8AM or you risk getting your vehicle towed (Saturdays and Sundays are free). I would suggest trying to find an open spot and park somewhere there is an opening. Also the laundry room is not in use at the moment as the washer was inoperable. If for some reason you need to do laundry, you may consider trying to find a laundromat and do your laundry that way (it may change later in time). There is a bedroom where there are two beds. The one bed is under the other one, but it was challenging to put that bed up together. Once you have that in order, then you should be ok! Other than that if you treat this home with the love and care it deserves, then you will love fall in love with this “classic” (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)’s home!

Hope's house is in the perfect location! We were close to a lot of amazing restaurants and bars. Hope was also a great host. We spoke before we checked in and she was so available for recommendations and anything we needed. The house itself is older but still great. Just be prepared for a step walk up to the second floor and one of the three bedrooms doesn't have a door on it. But overall, it's a great place, great location and great value!

Convenient location for a business trip to downtown. Why not hang out in a cool real neighborhood nearby and walk to dinner/anything!
