The space
Our cosy cottage is in the heart of a small and tranquil hamlet community. It offers the ultimate chill out and unwind space surrounded by fields and woodland. Wake up to horse riders, cyclists, wild geese and deer roaming the nearby fields. No street lighting lit by the stars........ideal for a weekend away or holiday, local weddings, walking, fishing or cycling breaks, a business trip, a bolt hole before or after international trips.

Here is what our place has to offer:

Enter the cottage into the main living area. Walk from the kitchen into the open plan lounge area fitted with wooden venetian blinds where there are comfortable sofas, a coffee table, a flat screen TV, apple box, DVD & CD players, DVDs, books and a selection of games and toys for young children.

The garden has a great decked area, table and chairs for outdoor meals with a large umbrella to shade you on sunny days. Join us for a game of table tennis or badminton in the garden.

On the ground floor there is a large bathroom with shower (including handheld), heated towel rail, hairdryer and toiletries.

The open pine staircase leads to two bedrooms and one small single room; both bedrooms have comfortable double beds, lots of luxury touches including egyptian cotton sheets and towels; decor is country classic and welcoming, both relaxing and peaceful. The bedrooms have low sloping walls/exposed beams and may not be suitable for tall and older people. All the bedrooms have Velux windows fitted with blackout blinds.

There are three quintessentially English pubs within a five minute drive of the cottage, two of which cater for families with children (play area) and a local farm shop which serves delicious food from breakfast until late afternoon.

Best pub food can be found right here in the village at the Six Bells. The Surrey Oaks at the far end of the village regularly wins best ale awards for Surrey & Sussex. The contemporary, Fox Revived is amazing and well worth a visit. The Parrot at Forest Green has just reopened to rave reviews. Recommend booking in advance.

For all basic needs, our local store, Bob's shop is less than 2 minutes drive away. Bob also runs the post office and if you run out of wine, rush to Bob's its open to 7pm.

There is an organic farm shop in the village of Ockley with a great gift shop.
Their produce is sourced as close to the shop as possible and includes:

• local free range chicken, meat & sausages
• freshly baked local breads & pastries
• local cheeses, smoked fish & cold meats
• olives, pâtés & dips
• local ice cream
• organic and fair trade groceries
• seasonal plants…. and lots more!

In Dorking, you can enjoy a wide variety of attractions to include the leisure centre, cinema, museum, antique shops, a variety of traditional and contemporary tea and coffee shops, wonderful deli food and a wide selection of pubs and restaurants.

Enjoy the stunning countryside and wonderful walks. We are close to both Leith and Box Hill and Denbies Vineyard with wine tours, cream teas and a thriving restaurant.

There are a wealth of beautiful National Trust homes and gardens to visit including Polesden Lacey, Clandon Park, Winkworth Aboretum, Petworth House, Standen House arts & crafts home, Arundel Castle (home of the Duke of Norfolk), Batemans the inspirational home of the author Rudyard Kipling and finally, Chartwell in Kent home of our famous Prime Minister, Winston Churchill.

The county of West Sussex is five minutes drive away with easy access to Brighton, Hastings, Battle, Worthing, Littlehampton and many other British seaside towns and villages.

Hi I'm Marion, I am a consultant in the charity and community sectors. Previously I was Chief Executive of a London based charity for older people. After leaving my CEO role I missed meeting people, young and old, and decided to launch my converted barn cottage on Airbnb. I haven't looked back! Born in Sydney, Australia, I am married to an Australian, Jamie, and one of my two beautiful daughters now lives in Sydney. My younger daughter lives locally and I have four young grandchildren. My personal interests include travel, the arts, gardening and growing vegetables, flowers and herbs. I designed our courtyard garden and enjoy cooking and entertaining friends. I love Turkey and the Greek Islands, and with family living in Greece, the US, Canada and Australia ....... travel is a top priority for me. I am enjoying sharing courtyard cottage and meeting people of many nationalities with Airbnb. I hope you like the Cottage and our garden as much as I do!
