House rules
This place isn’t suitable for children under 12 and the host doesn’t allow pets, parties, or smoking.
This little (but not a tiny) house sits in a treed, green gully with lots of wildlife. It's a five minute walk to wonderful West End - fabulous food, craft beer, bookshops, coffee shops, live music venues and art, walking distance to QPAC, GOMA and Convention Centre. The treehouse is self contained, fully equipped, simply and amply furnished - and just a little bit rustic. It has a deck built over the frog pond and a herb garden. Parking right outside, off the street, and buses are close by.

The space
The treehouse sits high up amongst the canopy of the white cedar, silky oak, palms, and banana trees. Screens line the private front deck, and visitors include possums (nocturnal) and scrub turkeys (in the mornings passing by on the roof), the occasional gecko. There are many bird varieties that live close by - you'll often hear kookaburras, magpies, butcher birds, parrots and galahs - all loud and sometimes raucous! There's a deck at the side downstairs, overlooking a frog pond, so you'll sometimes hear the frogs calling before rain. If you desire complete darkness to sleep, the studio has custom made timber window blinds and blackout curtains to ensure no light enters before you wish.

Guest access
Access to the treehouse is at the end of the driveway, which also has sensor lights. Parking is right outside the treehouse, and you are welcome to use the downstairs deck near the garden. The lower level of the treehouse is our storage/workshop which is not available for use without arrangement.

Other things to note
Wildlife! As you'll be staying amongst the tree canopy, visitors will include native animals - possums, scrub turkeys (just passing through on their way from roost to nest), and many bird species - parrots, kookaburras, mickeys, and magpies. The possums can sometimes be bold and at night they may come inside if they smell ripe fruit and you have the doors open!

Quiet and tree filled, with our home is surrounded by elderly neighbours, young professionals, a recluse and young families. You'll hear Greek music, piano, and a little jazz often being played. Walking within 5 minutes reveals so many restaurants, bars, coffee shops, op shops and on Saturday mornings (6am - 1pm) a 10 minute walk will bring you to the farmers markets. West End's heritage is indigenous, Vietnamese and Greek, and along with a varied artistic community there's always a vibrant street scene and local events - all without having to get into a car or public transport.

Hi there, a little about us -we have lived in West End for almost 20 years, and are still based here. We have three adult daughters and one granddaughter. Mike and I are both no longer working for the man, having had our own businesses for most of our lives. Travelling recently has been by motorbike, both in Europe and Australia. Walking and camping have been the family style of holidays, and we have backpacked as a family many places around the world. We also love reading, music and conversation. Meeting fellow travellers gives us a great sharing experience and often stories are valuable resources for future trips. We have a Cairn terrier (the busiest dog we know), a Kelpie (Red Dog) and an adopted rag doll cat, and, they are best mates. The dogs are only here when we're here, as we generally take them with us everywhere. Two daughters live close by and are pursuing their careers. They are available if we are out of town. Mike surfs, cycles and motorcycles and has many timber craft or renovation (for the girls) projects always waiting to be completed upon our return from trips. I love reading, travelling, encouraging the garden to produce some food, playing tennis, trail walking, cooking, and chatting over a wine (or beer depending on the heat of the day!) We shop fresh almost each day and can give you loads of info regarding the best places locally to source great fresh food too!
