At first, the magnificent water view and wrap-around porch welcomes you. Unlock the private door, and you will discover a furnished suite with two twin beds or king-size bed and a full bath. A vintage writing desk awaits and is outfitted with printer, lamp, WiFi, and writing supplies. Hungry? Bottled water, chocolate, coffee, tea, hot chocolate and seasonal fruit fill the cupboard. The suite's convenient kitchenette, redefines this haven as your home away from home.

The space

The Writer's Hearth is a quiet haven for all creatives (writers, poets, musicians, thinkers, inventors, artists) and travelers to tap into their imagination and talents. Located on Willapa Bay, the meticulously cared-for suite is designed to transport you to another world where you can work on ideas, write, compose, or just think. The area boasts a number of year-round restaurants and bistros. For all of you who prefer to take your meals at home, an in-suite kitchenette is equipped with refrigerator, toaster oven, microwave, and electric coffee maker and kettle. All are welcome - including service dogs - and encouraged to visit this little slice of blissful heaven. Our off-season nightly rate is $83 for single or double occupancy. Also, be sure to inquire about the weekly rates. Our vision is to honor diversity and hone creativity. All are welcome!

Guest access

Our guests are always welcome to walk the grounds, use the suite's patio, or watch the sunrise from the home's wrap-around porch. On warm days, sit on the porch with your laptop; our WiFi signal reaches outside. For our music pros, there is a weighted-key Casio keyboard available for your use. Bring your earphones for use after 9 p.m. Sunny or cloudy, the dynamic water/forest views are inspirational. The area has an abundance of local walking and bike trails, wildlife refuge, state parks, and, of course, festivals each month to distract you. For those who love the water, we offer the Pacific Ocean and Willapa Bay. Don't forget to bring your boots to walk the wet sand during low tide. Willapa Bay is famous for its clams oysters. Don't miss this local delicacy...YUM!

Interaction with guests

It is our hope you will use The Writer's Hearth to germinate your next project, finish your book, or compose your opus. Our goal is to provide a place of solitude while you work. Your proprietor is a writer, editor, former university professor, and corporate executive. She is available to handle any issues, questions, or conversations that might arise during your stay. Simply call, text, or knock on the door.

Other things to note

Washington State is known for its dynamic natural beauty, and the Long Beach peninsula is one of the state's most popular destinations. The Writer's Hearth suite is a self-contained home away from home, work, or life's day-to-day busy-ness. The nights are very quiet and tranquil. Winter gales can be fierce, and many travel to the area to see their effect on the ocean. No wonder there have been 2,000 shipwrecks off our shores in the last 200 years. Be sure to open the window and let in the fresh air. You'll sleep like a baby for sure.

Great place to stay. Chris was awesome. A bit smaller than we expected.

Beautiful home and accommodations, well stocked with lots of nice treats. The view from the porch is amazing and super quiet! Small room for 2 people, only one chair but no room for more.

Response from Christine:
Thank You, Denny for your kind review. After living in large cities for many years, the My Charter's online service (Spectrum) can be a challenge on the peninsula. When this occurs, My Charter's range and bandwidth service defaults to 2G from 5G. I design websites for a living and I routinely check the speed. I also experienced a slow down, then a service interruption, on Sunday evening. By immediately re-booting the system and and checking the system speed, I was up and running. Thank you for letting me know of your encounter. I will update the in-house binder to reflect new instructions in case the speed is lacking.

Being about a 15-20 minute drive from the business area of Long Beach made this a quiet place. It had lovely views of the bay (not the ocean). Christine is a sweet host who had really put a lot of thought into the details of making someone feel welcome. With a separate entry, two beds, private bath, and mini kitchenette (complete with stocked mini fridge), she should really call this a suite like the hotels do. The extra touches like Seattle's chocolates and making our beds for us were very thoughtful. Christine will do whatever it takes to make your stay enjoyable.
