We live in a rain forest and occasionally will come across the mysterious pueo (owl), this peaceful place is called, Ka Hale Pueo (The House of the Owl). On a clear night you can light up the fire pit and stargaze! Inside you will find a cozy and modern country decor with most of the necessities you need. E komo mai! (Welcome!)

The space
Ka Hale Pueo is located on a 5 acre estate with an entry gate. Your private one bedroom guest house has a private car port for your use. The cozy living room is equip with jealousies to keep your guest house cool throughout the day. It also has a room heater for those few chilly nights we have in Hawaii. Enjoy a bowl of popcorn while watching your favorite TV show or relax and unwind from your day. The spacious main bedroom comes with a comfortable queen-size bed. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to prepare your favorite meals. The main house, where I am, is adjacent to your private guest house. We have enough space and distance between one other that grant you your own privacy, yet I am not too far should you need any assistance throughout your stay.

Other things to note
We are approximately 30 minutes by car to the best beaches on the island and 15 to 20 minutes away from beautiful Waipio Valley.

Beach towels, beach chairs and a cooler available for your use. We do not carry snorkeling gear or beach umbrellas (see Allison for great recommendations on rentals and at her favorite beach you will not need an umbrella).

Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is now open to the public. Drive time 1 hour 40 minutes.

At night the bull frogs and tiny coqui frogs come out and most find it to be a soothing sound. By day, you may get lucky and hear Patron’s bray occasionally (our neighbor’s miniature donkey).

Keep in mind we are in the mountains and forest so it can get rainy or foggy at times and a little cool (in the 60’s) so bring a light jacket along. We have the most beautiful sunny days too!

Although we love our animal friends and have pets of our own, we do not allow any pets inside Ka Hale Pueo. Mahalo for your kokua.

Aloha! My name is Allison and I am here to answer any questions you may have. I was born on Hawaii island in a small sugar plantation town called Honoka'a. I am a fourth generation local living here my entire life. I worked in the travel industry for many years in Hawaii and happy to assist with any island information or if you need to book an activity. Golf is a passion and I love playing Scrabble, Words with Friends, TsumTsum and spending time with my family and our two dogs.

During your stay
Aloha! My name is Allison and I am a fourth generation local living on the Big Island my entire life. The small, nearby sugar plantation town of Honoka'a is my hometown and where I was raised since a child. I am a professional in the Hawaii Travel Industry for over 30 years now and have been assisting visitors and locals with island information, recommendations, and activities. On my spare time I absolutely LOVE a great Scrabble game and try to get some golfing time whenever possible. When at home, I enjoy spending time with my family, close friends, and our chickens whom may visit with you from time to time. Please know that I am here to make your stay comfortable and memorable with hopes that you will visit me and Ka Hale Pueo again.
