Travel back in time in this quaint 1 bedroom home located right at the tip of this historical fortification. To welcome guests I provide free transport on arrival with cab company. This house enjoys all the modern comforts in a quieter and more authentic part of the island, away from the commercial hotel packages, but still within easy reach of the buzzing capital Valletta. Just a few steps away from the panoramic Gardjola Gardens, with its Grand Tower observing the magnificent maltese shores.

The space
Any COVID related documentation (such as Green certificate or PCR test results) required for travel by the authorities, are to be provide prior to check in. This property is licensed by the Malta Tourism Authority, thus on par to their standards (licence HPI/7322).
This cosy one bedroom house of character is over 300 years old, dating back to the pre-war era. During the war Senglea was heavily bombarded and this is one of the few houses that survived. It has a variety of maltese features such as wooden beams and provides an authentic maltese experience. It has been refurbished with a modern touch but still retains its old charm. Senglea makes part of the three cities in the Grand Harbour area, the other two being Cospicua and Vittoriosa.
Within a short walk you'll find grocers, a pharmacy, butchers, fishmongers and the main bus station. Typical and reasonably priced restaurants and bars are also close-by. Just a 15 minute walk along the seafront will take you to the ferry point in Cospicua, which takes you in a short but very relaxing 3 minute ride to Valletta. This is a definite must as it is the best way to appreciate the grandeur of the magnificent harbour.

Upon entering the house you will find a staircase leading to the kitchen / dining area. There is a small shower/toilet room on this floor. Please note that it is smaller than average and if a spacious bathroom is a must for you, than this is not the right place for you, as this bathroom has been modernized but still retains the small size of the olden days. You will have access to WIFI throughout the house. Another staircase leads to the comfortable bedroom which enjoys a TV supplied with Netflix, for those times when you just need to watch a movie and relax. A spiral staircase will take you to the roof terrace where you can chill with a nice glass of local wine and enjoy some distant views of the Valletta Upper Barrakka and the harbour. A gas BBQ is also at your disposal.

We can arrange transfers from the airport or provide information on public transport. Please note that Senglea is a quieter and more authentic part of the island and there are also plenty of steep steps which make it not ideal for anyone with mobility issues.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON AIR-CONDITIONER: Please note that since the house was built in the older days, the walls are thicker and it has better insulation. Therefore it benefits from cooler summers and warmer winters, compared to other modernly built properties. However, I do supply my guests with two fans and the option to use the air-conditioner is available in the hotter summer months (June/July/August/September). To use the air-conditioner you need to place a Eur10 deposit per day. The total amount will be returned upon check out and reading of electricity meter if the consumption is within a reasonable level. The average amount of units per day for this household is 10 units per day. I am allowing 15 units per day free of charge, any units used above this amount will be charged at 15 cents per unit, which will be deducted from the deposit placed at the end of your stay. This is to avoid any reckless use of the airconditioning unit, such as leaving the AC switched on when you are out. Therefore responsible guest will not have to pay anything extra.

Other things to note
To welcome guests I provide free transport on arrival with cab company.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: As from June 1, 2016, the Government of Malta is introduced an Environmental Contribution on stays at all types of accommodation. All revenue generated from this initiative will be used to upgrade and embellish the local infrastructure in touristic areas around the Maltese Islands.

You will be required to pay an Environmental Contribution amounting to €0.50c per night up to a maximum of €5 for each continuous stay in the Maltese Islands, including twin-centre holidays in Malta and Gozo. This applies to local and foreign guests staying at any type of accommodation including hotels, guesthouses, farmhouses, villas, hostels, self-catering apartments, b&b, host families etc. The contribution is not included in your room rate and so you will be charged for it separately.
