Artist house with private garden at the top of a hill in a tiny village. Larger village below with great Thursday market. Several bakeries, butchers and regular shopping. Close to some of the most beautiful villages in France.

The space

There is a futon couch in the living area that folds down to become a double bed. There are two double beds upstairs with a new wall between them, as well as a twin bed on the landing behind the stairs, the futon couch is downstairs. The toilet and washing machine are in the back room on the first floor, there is no toilet upstairs, but there are chamber pots available. The house is a livable art project in a constant state of improvements by adding mosaics and creature comforts. Please also note the photo of the stairway, it may not be appropriate for young children or older people. This isn't a modern house! The garden is wonderful in the spring/summer and fall. There is a map for walking trails outside the Mairie. The dumpsters for trash and recyclables are just around the corner and the recycle bins are in the Mairie parking lot.

Guest access

The guest will have access to the entire house and garden.

Interaction with guests

Guests can interact as much as they like. Someone will always meet the guests for instructions and information on the area. If not by me, by my representative and friend, Tom, who speaks French and English fluently.

Both Sharon and Tom were very friendly and welcoming. Their place is cozy and perfect for a small family looking to disconnect and indulge in the beauty of the south of France. Thank you Sharon and Tom! You made our visit memorable

This is truly an artists work in progress! Lovely mosaic artwork throughout this rustic home. Beautiful garden in the back yard. The stairs to the 2nd level are very steep and may not be suitable for everyone. The toilet is located on the main floor and there are chamber pots in the sleeping rooms on the 2nd floor that may not be ideal for some. The antique beds are small and not great for tall people. The home is located in a central area for easy day trips.

Sharon is a warm and generous host. She enthusiastically opens up her home and garden and hands it over to make you feel as if it's your own during your stay. The garden is a highlight and the photos don't do it justice! It is pretty and private and we enjoyed tomatoes, cucumber, herbs and more which Sharon generously shared. Also a fab little barbecue provided saw plenty of use. The house itself is unique and atmospheric. It is truly a medieval stone cottage and all Sharon's possessions are either authentic antiques or quirky arty items. It's lovely and dark and cool inside, no matter how hot the sunshine outside. The old part of the village where the house is is attractive but no shops etc. Just down the hill (2 min drive or a longer walk) there is a bar, fab bakery and a well stocked small supermarket. The ancient church in the old part of the village is interesting and worth a look. There are many castles, vineyards and beautiful villages and towns within short drives of Sharon's place. A total getaway from modern life.

Thank you Jane! I think your review does a better job of describing my house and the surrounding area than anything I wrote in own description of it! Salut!

Sharon was an exceptionally kind and considerate host. Her response to emails during the booking process was prompt and during our stay she went out of her way to make us feel welcome both in the house and the area. We had decided not to hire a car so she very kindly picked us up from the train station as well as offering us lots of information about access on public transport within the local area and ideas of some lovely places to visit. The house is a very special place and a delight in itself - we really enjoyed our stay. Everything was there that we could possibly need and despite some hot days the building itself seemed to keep quite cool. The garden is lovely too and a wonderful place to sit out and contemplate life. Monsempron-LIbos is a sleepy wee town but has everything you could need and surprisingly good connections to other perhaps more touristy places around. I think the only thing we missed was having no cafe/bar open in the evenings. The one in the square seemed to close around 7. Everyone in the town was very kind and helpful and always up for a chat even though our French is rubbish. If you are looking for a relaxing holiday, far from the maddening crowds, in a house that is guaranteed to make you feel creative I would thoroughly recommend a visit. Oh and the Thursday market which takes over the whole of the town centre is fabulous!

Thank you Jenny for that very thoughtful review! Sorry this place does fold up so early. :{ The Bistro may stay up later, but you would know better than I. I rarely go out in the evenings.

Oh my goodness - Sharon's place - and Sharon - are amazing!!! First, Sharon made us feel so welcome. She is open, gentle and fun and made us feel instantly at ease. The house is quite the most wonderful place. The pictures don't even tell you half the story - pics of the garden would be swell too Sharon because I'm sure other folks would love to see that. Everything is the house is so quirky - we absolutely love your place Sharon and we have taken inspiration from you to change our kitchen. Thank you for letting us eat your veggies, please thank the neighbor again for the peaches! The little village is super quite - very welcome for us. Brilliant place - I very highly recommend.

The house is nice and cozy, quite fresh even with 40 Celsius degrees outside (if you keep the blinds shut during the day.) Perfect for two people. The bed was quite comfortable but a bit small. The garden was great, relaxing. No TV, although this was not a problem for us. Sharon was kind, always there when needed, but very descreet. The area is maybe a bit less touristic than Perigord (which is quite close) but not less beautiful. We felt at home.

House looks even nicer than in the pictures, very interesting and unique and very well equipped for cooking etc. There was a loaf of bread and bottle of wine there to greet us when we arrived late in the evening. The garden is beautiful. One of the best air bnbs I've stayed in.
