The space

Two bedrooms (one up, one down), two baths, full kitchen, washer, hammocks, small private dock, picnic area with beautiful views of the lake among flowers, palms, and fruit trees. Sleeps four, ideal for 2 couples and families. There is a large screened porch facing the laguna with views through the garden, two kayaks, wireless internet, and the cabana is wheelchair accessible.

Guest access

Lakeside Palapa, kayaks, WiFi, dock, lawn chairs, parking area, hammocks, herbs and fruits in season, coffee makings, small safe for valuables, sunrise over the Laguna.

Interaction with guests

We enjoy sharing our lake and community with guests and since our home is on the same property we are close at hand for any questions. Each home offers a great deal of privacy from the other. We have been known to share a sunset beverage with guests by the laguna or give guests a tour of the town so they can get their bearings.

Other things to note

There are a number of boat tours on the lake as well as a group who offers wonderful kayak tours including one and two day outings. We'd be happy to advise you on your options.

Peggy and Scott made us feel welcome and gave us many good tips. The place is very cleaned and nicely decorated. Well located on the lagoon. We left early on our last day and they woke up to give us a delicious homemade ice cream for breakfast. Many thanks for your kindness Peggy and Scott, we would definitely recommend you !

We had a great time at Peggy's place and would have loved to stay longer. We booked the couple special and didn't regret it at all, because we loved the privacy we had in this great place with that beatific garden. We couldn't meet Peggy in person, because she was traveling too, but we met Shawn - a great person who helped us with everything and gave us some good recommendations. We did a catamaran sailing tour, which we really liked and had a tasty lunch at the hostel "La Tortuga" - chilled and nice place where you can relax. Walking distance to the center is 30-45 min, depending where you want to go. We really enjoyed our stay at the lagoon and highly recommend Peggy's place!

Wonderful beach cabana located at an ideal spot on Lake Bacalar. Private access to the beach, beautiful garden and friendly owners made this a perfect stay. The hosts Scott and Peggy made sure everything was in perfect order, we really felt at home!

We had a great time in Bacalar. This cabana was exactly as described, and Scott was super helpful. The access to the Laguna could not be easier, and the Kayak is definitely a plus. Thanks Scott for your kindness and your recommendations!

We had an excelent stay at Bacalar, it is a magical place! The Cabaña of Peggy & Scott is very beautiful and ideally placed. Scott will give you very good indications on the restaurants and the market. One of the best place in Yucatán !

It was great staying at this beautiful place, it's right in the lake and you get privacy and an entire home for yourself, next to a place where you can get cheap and good breakfast. The lagoon is amazing and the house included a cute pet called Chula. Everything was great.

The Peggy's is a wonderful little peaceful heaven. The house is exactly as in the pictures. You will live in a typical mexican cabaña, and feel like you are leaving outside everytime. The lagun is just two steps from your door !! Enjoying a sunrise here is the best experience we had during our stay in Mexico ! We did not have the chance to meet Peegy because they were traveling around the world ! But we were welcomed by Jacquie who is really caring and full of happiness ! We even had two beers when arriving ! Last little advice : a restaurant is just next door ! It has a wonderful terrace, but the food and people here was not what we preferred ! Make a walk 3min longer to Casa Tortuga and you will enjoy a little meal in a peaceful environment, cheaper and with the same view ! We definitely enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this place.

We are Peggy and Scott, a couple in our mid sixties. We moved to Bacalar about 12 years ago with my Mom who had advanced stage dementia. Living here in this gentle culture on a beautiful lake was our gift to her. When she left us, we decided to stay and as our background is in technology, web design, and education we began a small web business. Working with people here, living on one of the most beautiful lakes in the world, learning about new plants, birds, animals and a different culture has been a wonderful experience. We have had many friends visit over the years and enjoy sharing our life here. We have had a few rental guests and find we enjoy meeting new people and introducing them to what we have learned about the lake, the culture, the Bacalar area, and the other parts of Mexico we have explored.

Our property lends itself to two separate households. We have our home and just a bit set back is our two bedroom, two bath, complete kitchen, Cabana. All surrounded by gardens. On the lake is a small dock and a palapa with hammocks, chairs and tables.
