Retreat to this charming haven of peace on National Trust Minchinhampton Common, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It's the perfect cosy getaway for one or two people, to feel inspired, be creative, to get back to nature, and have space for relaxation. Bring your dog and walk from the door with sunsets over stunning views.
Enjoy a delicious locally produced continental breakfast in the separate artists studio up the garden where the all mod con bathroom is too.

The space
A beautiful, custom-built Shepherds Hut with wood-burner and double-bed with fresh cotton linen, situated in a lovely, private garden. This is glamping at its best - no camp site crowds to deal with, just birdsong and vintage charm. With electric lighting and high-speed broadband it's well-equipped and comfortable.
Delicious, locally produced, continental breakfast is supplied in the comfort of the separate studio up the garden, in a help yourself style. It's all very relaxed, a perfect place to plan your day ahead from, over a mug of real coffee, with under floor heating and a pretty garden view.
The bathroom here in the studio has a powerful shower with continuous hot water and large fluffy towels.
Enjoy relaxing back in your shepherds hut after a refreshing walk on the common. Wander round local Cotswolds towns for inspiration.

The hosts are very happy to give advice and recommendations about the area, but with a separate entrance and sleeping away in the depths of the garden, you have your privacy guaranteed.

Guest access
You will be able to use the Shepherds Hut and lovely garden as a given, with the bathroom in the separate studio up the garden. The bathroom is all yours. The studio space may be used by your host, the artist, between 11am and 6pm on some days, you would be notified of this in advance. There is also a stone barbecue. You would need to bring all necessary BBQ equipment with you and notify your hosts in advance of use.

Other things to note
There is a set of steps to the property, wide enough for two people to walk side by side, but there is no hand rail. To access the Shepherds Hut you will have to walk around 25 metres down an uneven garden path. It would probably not be suitable for anyone with difficulties walking.

There are two friendly dogs on site, medium/big. Visiting dogs are allowed in the garden on a lead. The common, next to the property is perfect for walks and for dog toilet breaks.
There is a charge for fire wood £5 per bag beyond the starter kit provided to be paid direct to the owner.

Location

Stroud, Gloucestershire, United Kingdom

We are situated in Pinfarthings, part of Amberley, on the sunny side of the hill above Nailsworth. This is a very quiet neighbourhood, a secret spot, with no through traffic, surrounded by fields, woods and the common, but within a stones throw of Nailsworth and then Stroud. The cows roaming wild on the common between May and October sometimes come wandering down our lane. There are owls all around. There are fantastic walks and cycle rides from the door. The area is known for both these.
Nailsworth, a small Cotswold town has plenty of interesting craft and gift shops and a variety of restaurants and pubs as well as several small supermarkets. Stroud, ten minutes away by car, is a lively, creative town with a fantastic farmers and craft market on Saturday mornings. It has great bars and pubs and lots of interesting events throughout the year. Giffords Circus is near by, we can help with transport to help make your evening really special.
Other places of interest:
Tetbury for antiques, also Griffin Mill and Malthouse Antiques in Stroud
SVA for art events in Stroud, also Museum in the park, Stroud
The Good Shed, The Prince Albert, in Stroud for music
The woolpack Inn, Slad, we can't recommend enough, for good up market food, original interior and Laurie Lee associations, plus amazing walks from the door.
Stroud Brewery for beer, pizza and music
For contemporary art and craft lovers, we have renowned art trails where local artists open their studios for two weekends in May and June. It is great fun to travel around the area and see stunning works of art in the places they are made and have the chance to buy them. See both Stroud Valley Arts website and SIT SELECT for details.
Please note that due to the Covid pandemic the events and items listed may not be operational.
