Kam Inn is located on Yoshinoyama, which is part of the UNESCO World Heritage site of Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range. This area has served for over 1300 years as the northern entrance to the mountainous backcountry of southern Nara for followers of the mountain worshiping faith of Shugendo. There are numerous historically important temples and shrines located within walking distance of Kam Inn, including the world famous Shugendo temple of Kimpusen-ji. The forests in the area are beautiful in every season (with the most famous being the spring, when thousands of mountain cherry trees blossom around the area), and surrounding the guesthouse are very nice views of Yoshino's mountain landscape. For guests who would like to hike, the entrance to the Okugake Pilgrimage Path is about a 30 minute walk up a scenic road from Kam Inn. Directions to other nearby hiking trails and mountain roads available upon request There are also a bunch of nearby shops and restaurants that contain traditional local foods and goods, including handmade tofu, authentic soba, and kudzu sweets.
PLEASE NOTE: as the Yoshinoyama area is very rural, there are no stores or restaurants that are normally open after 5pm. Therefore, please be sure to come prepared with any supplies you may need. The nearest 24 hour convenience store to Kam Inn is the Lawson located near Yamato-Kamiichi Station (2 stops from Yoshino Station).

I like Japanese folklore and traditional culture. I started my guesthouse from spring 2017. It was my dream! I want to tell you a lot of interesting Yoshino culture and folklore. It has old Japanese mountain warship, Japanese old gods story, beautiful and peaceful nature, a lot of wild animals and true countryside life. I love everything in this area. And then, I like Japanese old martial arts. I do Hōzōinryu-sojutsu. It's Japanese old spear martial arts. It's so fun. I am looking for talking with you!
