Best view in Santo! A unique home on 5 acres with stunning outlook onto Sarunda Bay. Only 15 min drive from Luganville but quiet and secluded. A 90 sq mtr covered deck stretching out over the water, boasting a huge table that seats 16 & sunlounges. Two main rooms + kitchen and bathrooms. Outdoor tropical garden shower + ensuite + 3rd bathroom. Sleeps 7 (4 beds), fully equipped kitchen, Internet, air-conditioned & fans - cooling sea breezes - a relaxed tropical paradise you won't want to leave!

The space

A relaxed and secluded home, suitable for couples, families or a group of friends. Fully equipped, very comfortable, with the best deck in Vanuatu! 15 minutes from Luganville, the capital of Espiritu Santo, on five acres of manicured land and 60 metres of absolute water front.

Sipping cocktails on the deck, washing up, cooking, even sleeping, the view is of the ocean and you'll hear it's sounds - gentle waves lapping against the sea wall.

It is a feeling of freedom to take a shower in the outside tropical garden area which is part of the house, only blue skies and trees above you, open but also very private.

The house has air conditioning and/or fans throughout, has a full size functional kitchen, one large separate bedroom with two double size beds, plus the very large living area that also sleeps 3 with one queen size bed, 1 single Sleeps 7 comfortably. (There is a divan that pulls out into a queen size bed in this area if required.)

Not recommended for children under 6 year old due to proximity to water. Very safe swimming, deeper waters await adults at the end of the jetty in the lagoon, even at low tide when the jetty is over beach instead of water. You may even be lucky enough to swim with Teddy & Tommy the two sea turtles when they are in residence, who call the lagoon home or take a kayak (provided) trip and get a glimpse of pods of dugongs: even a whale has been spotted not too far from our house. Snorkel the coral and view the abundance of reef fish just a couple of hundred metres in front of our house.

Two bathrooms and the outside shower. TV, (DVD'S only) & Internet connection, hair dryer, all linen & bath towels are provided.

If you are wanting a relaxing, peaceful, serene holiday, this is the place for you!

You can reach the house via taxi or private car. Santo is the largest island in Vanuatu but it's a sleepy place with boutique resorts, some lovely restaurants and a few fun happy hour spots. Horse riding trails and fishing charters, snorkeling, spear fishing can all be booked on site. Beach, lagoon & jetty at your beck and call. A guest phone is supplied, with local numbers pre-entered that maybe needed, .

Interaction with guests

There is an on site manager (living next door) to look after your needs. She respects your privacy.

Other things to note

The property is 11 kms from Luganville, so you will need transport. Options are to either book a vehicle from car hire places or there is an abundance of taxi's which can be flagged down at the gate of the property. Check price before leaving, should be approx 1,000vt (about $12 AUD) into town.

The jetty is an outstanding location! It's perfect to relax there and the sea is unbelievable close and so wonderful! The house is really big and well equipped, especially the kitchen. The neighbour Megan is very helpful! Santo horse adventure is really close, so if you are a addicted to horses this is your perfect location! The thing we have to note is the cleanness, it was not as clean as we expected it in some places. And some things are a bit aged, like the bbq and the canoe. But all in all it was wonderful there!

Response from Robyn:
I am so sorry that the cleanliness wasn't up to scratch. I have instructed the cleaning lady to take more care. There is now a new BBQ and lounge. Thank you for staying at my little piece of paradise.

We loved Robyn's property, which is a short drive from town and in a large secluded spot right on the water. The property details are accurate. We've stayed in a few places on Santo and like this property best so far. It's simple and rustic, but has everything you need for a relaxing, self-contained weekend away. We're so happy with our find on airbnb that we're headed back there next month!

The location is perfect, and we enjoyed staying at the Jetty. There's lots to do, and the neighbours are great in terms of organising reef trips etc. There were, however, some significant maintenance issues that Robyn needs to deal with in order for the promise of the house to be fulfilled.

This house was a great place to stay! Having a car is pretty much a necessity as town is a :10 drive away and all other attractions' require transport - you can use the taxis but having your own car hire provides convenience we found necessary. The house has pretty much everything you need, the stove is low on btu output so boiling water for pasta takes a while. The setting is perfectly tranquil and beautiful! The manager, who lives nearby, was incredibly nice and helpful - our family is indebted to her. Robyn, the owner, was promptly responsive and helpful from our initial questions through to the end of our stay. If we ever are fortunate to get back to Santo, we will be sure to stay at Robyn's place again.

Vanuatu has been hit by several cyclones and heavy rain events, all accommodation providers have been in clean up mode, during our last two visits. Too many jobs and too few specialists to attend to everyone at once.

Response from Robyn:
As you mentioned, Vanuatu has had a couple of cyclones this year. The last one being out of season. but luckily for Marguerite & Graham, it had only just gone by the time that they arrived on Santo. However, yes there was a lot of cleaning up to do and it would have affected some of the problems that my guests encountered, the cleanup crew & maintenance man couldn't get to it before guests came, I am sorry about that. just didn't have the time to fix the drainage problem, which would have been caused by the amount of rain leading up to Cyclone Donna. Same with the storm damage to screens which are being attended to at the present time. After all, it is a third world country and things don't happen as quickly as we would like. Also being a tropical island you will always get bugs/geckos etc around. Spray, mozzie coils are provided. Don't know what guests are talking about in saying booklet in house didn't relate to 'entertainment equipment' The trees are protected native trees. Yes they are huge i admit, but most people are intrigued by these amazing 200 year old trees over the house. Yes, 200 years and they have been through many cyclones and not fallen.. Unless communications were down in Santo, which I believe they were at some stage of the guests stay, I am always contactable by email. Also my onsite manager lives next door. Guests were advised from the beginning that they would need to hire a vehicle as the house is 11 kms from Luganville. I am so sorry that your holiday wasn't as you expected.

I am outgoing and love life. I couldn't live without my friends and family or Espiritu Santo, Vanuatu. I love meeting new people, love a good book and glass or two of wine.I love cooking and entertaining.I have written a book and am now writing a Manual on new people thinking of living on Santo.
At 69 years of age I have a full bucket list to get through, so my motto is 'get onto it, life is too short'.
