This wooden cabin is the ideal accommodation for gatherings, families, birthday celebrations or other special occasions. It sleeps up to 9 people. The inside of the cabin with wooden beams has its very own rustic but cosy charm and offers a nice wood burning stove. Outside you can enjoy the fireplace and its sitting area. The cabin is surrounded by beautiful mountains and from the cabin you have a wonderful view down to the loch.

The space
This large space is ideal for a three generation family outing as it has something for all the family. But we are happy to accept groups of friends as well!
The cabin is seperated into two cabins (i.e. GrandmaTeat and MotherTeat) which can be booked together, so it sleeps more people.
GrandmaTeat offers a double bed, an en suite bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen (with a gas stove, fridge and oven) and a dining area.
MotherTeat provides three rooms upstairs - two double rooms (one double bed each) and one triple room (three single beds).
Downstairs you will find a large living and eating area. The kitchen offers enough space for several people and everyone can sit around the dining table. The kitchen is fully equipped and has a gas stove, an oven, a microwave, an electric kettle, a toaster and a variety of cutlery, cutting boards, cups, plates etc. You will not miss anything during your stay!
The common area offers plenty of sitting opportunities and is ideal for game nights at the fire or reading.
The bathrooms offer all basic facilities, i.e. a shower and sink with hot water and a toilet.
There is no central heating in the cabin. You can use the wood burning stove downstairs for heating and for the rooms upstairs we offer electric radiator heaters. You can collect some wood in a bag at the farm for £5 per sack or bring/collect your own.
Parking is possible in front of the cabin and there is enough space for several cars.
The 4-mile-track to the hostel is a bit bumpy but if you drive carefully, it is possible to come here with a small car, i.e. you do not need a 4x4.
As the cabin is located on a farm and it is made of wood, it is likely that there will be mice. However, as long as you store your food in the cupboards and food boxes (especially as night!), it is no problem.
It is possible for elderly/disabled people to stay in GrandmaTeat as this cabin is on one level and there are no stairs. The bathroom has a shower chair and a shower and toilet handle.
The barn has excellent Wi-Fi as the router is located in the barn.
The surrounding area is full of wild life including deer, foxes, otters, pine martens and many varieties of birds. Walking is possible along the loch side and up the surrounding hills including Munros Ben Mor and Stabinion and adjacent Corbetts. Fishing and boating on the two lochs is also an option. We are happy to provide you with fishing permits - please contact us in advance about that. National Cycle Routes also pass nearby.
This place is unique as it is a microcosm of all that is best about the Scottish Highlands. The beauty of the landscape and the closeness to nature are unrivalled. This is the place for people who want to stay in comfort but have a taste of adventure in the wild.

Guest access
The whole space would be for your group. You can borrow Wellington boots in the porch of the hostel for free.

Other things to note
Please strip your beds and leave the cabin as clean as you found it- the next guests (and me) will thank you!

Location

Balquhidder, Scotland, United Kingdom

We are in Balquhidder- a relatively unspoilt and archetypal part of the Highlands of Scotland while only 2 hours from Edinburgh and Glasgow airports.
The cabin is located in a quiet and remote place - you will not be bothered by traffic noise etc. Our closest neighbours are the Monachyle Mhor Hotel on the other side of the loch. Other neighbours are about one mile away. However, as we rent out other cabins, there are more guests on the site.
