Where you’ll be

Kiama Downs, New South Wales, Australia

A 10-12 minute walk will take you to Bombo or Boneyard beaches. Both are popular surf beaches and Bombo is patrolled in peak holiday seasons.

A 15-20 minute walk (or 3 min drive) takes you to Jones Beach, local cafes, IGA convenience store, chemist and bottle shop. Jones Beach North is also patrolled in peak holiday seasons.

It is only a 5 minute drive to Kiama town centre where there are many cafes, eateries and shops, and of course the iconic Kiama "Blowhole".

Kiama township is a popular coastal town with heritage listed properties and modern touches. Renowned for its natural beauty of the rolling green hills meeting the sparkling blue ocean, it is a popular tourist spot, and a favourite among photography enthusiasts.

Day trips are recommended to Saddleback Mountain lookout, Jamberoo, Minnamurra Rainforest, Gerringong, Berry and the Shoalhaven or Southern highlands districts.

Play a game of golf at Minnamurra, Shellharbour or Gerringong.

There are also a number of nearby wineries that are open for tastings on weekends or by appointment.

Tennis courts can be hired locally.

With local festivals every month (eg jazz, folk, art etc), weekly local growers’ markets and general markets several times a month there is something for everyone. Local shops are boutique style. If you have more intensive shopping requirements, or fancy a trip to the cinema on a rainy day, Stockland Shellharbour is a mere 15 minutes drive away. (Covid-19 restrictions permitting)

I enjoy meeting new people, traveling with my husband in Australia and hopefully beyond as retirement approaches. We have several young grandchildren and have lived in beautiful Kiama for 3 years.
