A visit to our Bed & Breakfast is the perfect way to escape your rut, routine and really relax. Come here, rest... rejuvenate ... enjoy nature and all that the great outdoors has to offer, without doing anything. We are pet friendly. You'll be served a gourmet breakfast each morning, go play all day, and then decide which of the local eateries to experience in the evening. There are several restaurants near by to chose from and the options just keep growing.

The space
The cabin is nestled into the mountainside on 3.5 acres of forest. You will experience a private get away and may not see any other visitors during your stay. The Rustic Roost accommodates 4 adults comfortably. We are pet friendly. The main guest ensuite is downstairs and very private. It is spacious, includes a large walk in shower, King size bed, TV sitting area, and breakfast table. We also offer a smaller ensuite upstairs with a private bath and queen size bed. The common, shared areas of the cabin include the kitchen, dining room, living room, large comfortable covered porch and the walkways and gardens of this beautiful property. We live on the property, but stay in a totally separate section of the cabin. You really won't see us or know we are here, until breakfast. If you need us for anything, just ring the cowbell on the porch.

Rusty Howell - recently retired, and planning to live full time in “paradise” and spend the rest of my years running my Bed- N- Breakfast - ‘Rusty’s Rustic Roost ‘. I live here with my wife, Donna. We’ve been together, coming to Broken Bow and Beavers Bend for 36 years. Nature is our love. We have 3 1/2 acres in the Ouachita forest and want to share the experience with you. Come visit the 80 ft tall trees that create an umbrella covering our property. We have 2 guest rooms available: 1 King, 1 Queen both have private baths. It is the perfect set up for 2 couples, to share the home, and explore our property. We sleep 4 perfectly, 5 when using the full size bunk separate from bedrooms. Private entrances separate the guest quarters from each other and the common areas of the house. The living room, dining room, kitchen and porch are shared, common areas, and have access points for all. It is the perfect environment to visit with others or escape by yourself. The rooms are on different levels, as the property is built on the side of the mountain. Wrap around porch allows you to come together or stay apart. You can take short hikes on the property and the adjacent Ouachita National Forest that backs up too the Rustic Roost. The terrain is somewhat steep, so we do not recommend it for young or those with limited mobility. The Rustic Roost is a special place! You will feel secluded and at peace with yourself and nature. We are here on the property and always available (ring the cow bell), but won’t be in your way. If you see or hear me or my wife, it will be taking care of the gift that, we are so blessed to have. Our personal space is separate from the guest rooms and common area. Hummingbirds love the porch. Many flower and rock gardens maintained by us, thanks to my wife’s love for gardening. Rare will you see other people or experience noise other than what you create. We are less than a five minute drive to Broken Bow Lake, hiking trails, the river and Beavers Bend State Park.

During your stay

I am available at all times to support all guest needs - for questions about the local area and suggestions for things to do. I plan to offer guide services for local trout fishing of the lower Mountain Fork River and provide boating tours of the lake. Both are within a few miles of the cabin.
