A female mockingbird routinely nests in the flowering quince in the front of Mockingbird Cottage, which is named for her.

Mockingbird Cottage offers real value for money, eclipsing the rate + space + amenities offered by local hotels.

A really convenient location in the historic district of McKinney: the house is in a very quiet area while still being close to the downtown. The hosts are great and leave a bunch of snacks to get you started. Overall, a great stay, and I would highly recommend!

Mockingbird Cottage is a charming 2-bedroom, 1-3/4 baths home situated within walking distance to historic McKinney Square (with shops and restaurants galore). The cottage sleeps 6 comfortably and offers a full kitchen and laundry. It is also very pet-friendly. I utilized the cottage for a girlfriends' annual retreat. It was an excellent place for us to relax and catch up. CJ and Ellen have thought of everything to make guests feel welcome and comfortable. We would return in a minute!

We came to McKinney for a college girls retreat. Mockingbird Cottage was everything you expected plus more. The owners were so thoughtful to have a wonderful coffeecake ready for us when we arrived. We felt right at home. The home is cozy and spacious with lots of great touches to make you feel right at home. The neighborhood is incredible with all of the historic homes. We loved staying here and would come back again. Thank you, Carol, Marysue and Linda.

Second time for me at C.J. And Ellen’s place, and I loved it as much as the first time. Walking distance from the city center in the traditional old neighborhood of McKinney. Good style, spacious, and welcome bites and drinks waiting for you in the fridge. Will definitely come back again if in McKinney.
