Welcoming resident owners
The Grenier is one of three gites, each completely private and tranquil. Les Mortiers is situated on a quiet road, at the end of a private drive, yet within walking distance of the village of Parcay Les Pins. It is a restful and peaceful environment to enjoy this part of France, without feeling too remote. Awarded 3 stars by the French Ministry of Tourism.
Each gite has its own private area, but there is access to all the grounds. The swimming pool is set conveniently for each property. None of the properties overlook each other.
A welcome basket with eggs from our chickens, home made jam, and seasonal produce where available, plus a bottle of wine.
Interaction with guests
We are permanently resident at Les Mortiers, running a small craft business making fishing lines in pure silk for fly-fishing. It means we are available to help when required and ensure an enjoyable stay. We can be equally unobtrusive, depending on guests needs.
Other things to note
We know the region well having lived here for 16 years and are happy to share our knowledge.
We have a large source of tourist information in a dedicated area.
We are registered with Saumur Office of Tourisme. We have been inspected and verified by the Ministry of Tourism, who awarded the star rating. We feel strongly about this award as it gives our guests an assurance of quality and high standards.
Les Mortiers is a tranquil environment and our guests respect this. We do not allow pets as the horses in the fields around us are often in foal. We have a cat, who does not enter the properties, and 8 chickens.

I fell in love with France at the age of 17 and it lasted for ever! It is an absolute joy to be living in this part of France, with beautiful countryside and a one of the widest choice of wines in France. We have both learned a lot about viticulture in our 16 years here and there will always be more to discover.
I love swimming and life in the outdoors, especially in the garden at Les Mortiers - it's a passion, We grow all our own vegetables.
Mike spends his time making fishing lines in pure silk, one of the few in the world, and in his spare time enjoys woodworking.
Travelling is now mainly spent in France with our caravan with occasional trips to the United Kingdom.
We are both sociable but can be equally unobtrusive. It is a sense we have developed in 16 years of welcoming guests at Les Mortiers. We both also enjoy the quieter winter months to rest and recuperate.
If I was asked for a life motto, then it would be "Be Positive" - the same as my blood group!
