Living in the top 3 village of Holland, Heemstede. Feel at home in a relaxed and very quite family environment in this small town near Amsterdam ( 20 minutes by train or car) and the beach ( 20 minutes by bike).

Please be aware that everybody loves the quite and nice place so if you know you want to make parties or raise your voices too much after 10 PM in the garden or in the house with the windows open, this is not a place four you.

For everybody else : you are more than welcome!

The space

Quite, relaxed, near Haarlem ( 5 minutes), Amsterdam ( 20 minutes), Schiphol airport ( 20 minutes), Zandvoort-beachtown ( 20 minutes).

Lots of walking and biking opportunities ( 4 bikes available free of charge).

The house has a cosy, not too big living/dining room of around 25 square meters, a study and a very well equipped kitchen. ( including dish washer, oven and micro-wave)

A washing machine and dryer are available at your service.

I have 3 separate bedrooms.
The master bedroom on the first floor has a grand brand-new 2 persons bed ( 2.00 meter x 1.80 meter).
The other bedroom also on the first floor has a smaller 2 persons sofa bed, ( 2.00 meter x 1.20 ).
On the second floor in the loft there are two 1 person beds;
1 sofa-bed of 1.90 meter x 0.80
and one of 1.90 meter x 0.80

Take notice that the stairs to the second floor are a bit steep, which sometimes can be a hurdle for small children and elderly people.

I have optional to be used an extra matrass ( 1.90 meter x 0,9 meter) that can easily be added in the second floor room, so you can choose to sleep with 3 in the loft and 1 in the guest room.

The modern toilet is on the first floor.

The bathroom is connected to the master bedroom, but the door between the bedroom and shower can be closed so other can shower in total privacy.

The bathroom is equipped with a nice shower, with water coming from 5 directions if you want and also a superb bath, if you want for 2.

Paul was a great host—very friendly and helpful. Explained the house in great detail for us, but then left us total privacy. One thing to note which wasn't completely clear in the listing description: the only way into the master bedroom is through the only bathroom. This makes things a bit difficult at times, since those staying in the master bedroom can't get in or out of their room when another guest is bathing. But we worked through this minor inconvenience no problem and had a great stay.

Hi Dan, thanks for your stay and review. I understand what you say about the master bedroom and bathroom connection and it is not easy to explain. I have described the situation of the bathroom in my listing as follows: "The bathroom is connected to the master bedroom, but the door between the bedroom and shower can be closed so other can shower in total privacy. " I have changed that now to stress the point you are making. " The master bedroom can be reached through the connected bathroom, but can be separated by closing the door for full privacy in bathroom and bedroom" Fortunately up till now everybody sorted their way out to maximise the comfort of all guest, the same way you did.

Heemstede proved an ideal base for seeing Haarlem, Amsterdam and Zandvoort, especially with the use of the bicycles provided. The house is in a quiet residential area not far from shops and bus stops. It is very well equipped in every respect and has comfortable beds and a lovely bathroom. It also has plenty of seats to relax in either the front or back garden. Paul and his son Jasper were very welcoming, helpful and keen to ensure our stay went well.

Paul's place is an amazing deal! Everything was accurate to the description listed. Communication with Paul was easy and while we did not meet him because he was on vacation, his son Jasper met with us instead. Both of them were quick to answer any questions that my group had and great hosts! Paul even left us a bottle of wine-delicious! and kept up with us to ensure we made it back home safely.

Excellent place - quiet and peaceful with everything you need. Paul supplied bikes for my kids - so the whole family got out and about on bikes which made exploring fun!!! Shops are close by for all your need s (supermarket doesn't except foreign. Credit cards so you'll need cash), we biked to the beach (which my 8 and 10 year old managed fine), and back and forward to Haarlem. Paul was excellent in helping us with our needs. We would recommend and return - family of 5 with 3 kids - 5, 8, and 10.

Paul was a great host , he was very helpful with all communication and met us at the house , the downstairs of the house was great , lovely cosy and warm living room. The kitchen was well equipped and a lovely back garden , with benches and areas to sit . The upstairs was a challenge for us , I was travelling with my partner , my parents and my two children. The top room is not suitable for young children who wake in the night as the stairs are very steep and the Velux windows are at child height level and open straight out. I did think it was expensive as my daughter had to sleep on a mattress on the floor in the second bedroom and I was on a small put you up bed in the loft.the area is lovely but I do not think the house is suitable for families with young children.

Response from Paul:
Hi Rachel, thanks for your comments. I agree the stairs to the loft on the second floor are a bit steep and can be a challenge and i have based upon your comments added a note about that in my information on the site. ( note: the velux windows have a special safety lock to secure them and i allways put the windows on a secured position if there are children sleeping in the loft ). As mentioned on the site the loft on the second floor has 2 beds, both with double matrasses, 1 of them a brand new boxsping, for comfort. Whereas you dismanteld one of the beds and put one matrass on the floor in the other room yourself, you have therewith diminished the comfort drastically. I am sorry you did not send me a message because i could have easily added an extra matrass as suggested on the website. Thanks for you comments and i trust this additional information can be usefull for other guests also.
