The space
Calling all adventurers and explorers!

This house was built during the Civil War! Go back in time at the George Rider House! The kitchen is really unique; George Rider, the original owner of the property back in the mid 1800's, was a joiner, a type of carpenter specializing in cabinetry. George Rider was featured in an architectural history book on Italianite buildings of Bangor, Maine! He built the building for himself and his family, and the kitchen in this unit and the owner's unit, features the original cabinetry! There are many unique built-ins and features to enjoy, such as the old-time breadmaking drawer! The second bedroom has a curved rounded wall! I have written up some of the history so you can read about it.

The space is a two bedroom apartment and sleeps a maximum of 3 people. It comes with many amenities to make your stay comfortable.

*Master Bedroom: There is a King size bed inside the master bedroom with a super comfortable mattress. It is outfitted with a luxurious memory foam topper. The master bedroom features a lovely fireplace which is as simple to use as pushing a button. It can be operated with heat or without, using just the LED's (enjoy the fire-look, great to use in the summer when you don't want to use heat).

*One twin bed in the second bedroom. This mattress is also outfitted with the same luxurious memory foam topper that the master bed has. This room features a gallery wall of mirrors, opposite a curved wall.
*All sheets, linens, quilts and pillows are provided. Sound machines are provided in both bedrooms if you prefer to fall asleep to white noise, rain, etc.

We are centrally located to everything! Please read this carefully to be sure we are close to where YOU want to go (we want 5 stars!! nothing less!!):

Centrally located to everything Maine has to offer! Easy access to I95 & I395, and Route 1A & Route 9.

The neighborhood has a historic small town vibe, being the area first settled in town. You can walk from our quiet neighborhood two blocks and find a 24-hour Irving gas station if you've forgotten any necessities. Just a couple blocks further is an IGA grocery store, and a summertime ice cream-fried food stand. There is a park two blocks away in one direction (Dougherty Recreation Complex), and another park about 4 blocks away in the opposite direction (Brewer Auditorium Complex).

A short walk in the other direction leads you to the Brewer Riverwalk, a very pleasant walking area along the Penobscot River, where you can often hear music concerts playing from across the river. You can walk to downtown Bangor to enjoy free music concerts, Waterfront concerts or shopping. There are plentiful local pubs and breweries to explore, and amazing restaurants and seafood. Antiquing is a lot of fun here. There are local farmers markets to enjoy. Bangor has a City Forest Boardwalk (bogwalk), with labled plants and trees, it's very interesting.

I was born here in Maine, and have lived here in the Bangor/Brewer area my whole life. Many years ago, I worked at a 4 diamond destination hotel in Bar Harbor, Maine, during high school and college, and loved hospitality, and the concierge experience. I really enjoyed sharing travel information and secret spots with everyone. It was so much fun where everyone was in vacation mode! I've since traveled the world, I even did a stint as a flight attendant. I now own an apartment building, and I wanted to try Airbnb, because it seemed like it would be a fun opportunity for travelers! We love visiting Saint Andrews, New Brunswick, every summer. Happy travels!

During your stay

Your privacy is valued and respected. I am an Airbnb message away to assist in any way possible. There is no question too silly or small, just ask. It's my pleasure to help.

One thing I would like to mention is that I may not always be available in person due to my work schedule - I work nights, and sleep much of the day. I mention this primarily in case you send a message and don't get a quick response in the morning to early afternoon. If you need something - at check in during the evening, is the best time to reach me! I have made up a Guidebook of special (and secret!) favorite places of mine for you to check out as I've lived right in this area my whole life, and I have a more extensive copy waiting for you in the apartment so you can fit right in like a local.
