Our coastal 'haven' is a true Kiwi Bach with outstanding sea views over the reserve farm land. It is everything that kiwi's love about a bach - authentic, rustic, comfortable and such a great place to breathe in the sea air, sit back, listen to the ocean and relax with family and friends.

The space
We are located on the edge of the council reserve overlooking the ocean. The bach is beside the Opunake Coastal Walkway which is a beautiful walking track taking you to the Lookout, the main Opunake surf and swimming beach, Middletons Bay (where the boats are launched), the cliff top garden and the lake.
The section is large and flat; ideal for a tent if you have extra people to stay (the charge per extra person at a nightly rate applies)
We have a very large deck area perfect for sunbathing and entertaining. The bach has an inside toilet and bathroom in addition to an outside lock-up toilet and shower. The outside shower is ultra powerful and a delightful experience, perfect for coming home from the beach or from a dive and refreshing yourself under.
A Smart TV and ultra fast broadband also available.

Opunake is a great little town with a humming coastal vibe. The renowned and awesome 'Sugar Juice' Cafe is an absolute must for coffee, brunch or a meal. The Opunake theatre is a brilliant way to spend an evening- relax on sofas whilst having a beverage and watching the latest in movies.
And of course the surf is some of the best in the world.
Last but not least is the diving and fishing! Opunake has world class crayfish diving and excellent fishing.

We are a farming family and live a few minutes from New Plymouth, and 5 minutes from Oakura Beach and Village.
We love rural NZ and we are keen on tramping, fishing, hunting and free diving and make the most of living on the coast, often enjoying delicious seafood and the wild foods on offer in Taranaki.
When we can get away we love to head 40 minutes south down the Surf Highway to Opunake where we stay at our bach overlooking the sea, "Coastal Haven on Hector"
We also love to travel overseas and like to meet local people and eat the local food in the destinations we travel to.
