Built around 1850, the house has been in my husband's family since. We only started to share it fairly recently and have had great reviews and enjoyed having guests. The house sits above a rocky bay on Loch Shielavaig and has views of Hecla and Skye. We love it and hope you do too.
The area is ideal for anyone with a love of peace and quiet and the outdoors. Walking, fishing, bird watching, photography, canoeing or just relaxing. Fishing licences can be obtained locally. See "things to note"

The space
The house is comfortable and cosy, even on wild days.
In the living room there is a modern multi fuel burner, a 32" TV, DVD player and a selection of DVDs and board games.
The kitchen has an original Rayburn stove. There is also an immersion heater.
There is a washing machine, tumble drier, electric cooker, microwave, air fryer, slow cooker Nespresso coffee machine and milk frother and everything we think you will need for your stay.
The bathroom downstairs has a bath and electric shower. Also an electric fan wall heater and electric towel rail.
There is an oil filled electric heater in each room.
Bed linen and towels are supplied. There is tea, coffee and sugar so that you can have a cuppa on arrival.

There is a fire pit in and a picnic table in the garden.

The large garden is fenced so is safe for children and dogs. The house is about 4 1/2 miles off the main road which runs through the islands of South Uist and Benbecula. The house sits in a township of 7 houses. There is parking for 2 cars at the side of the house.

Frank and I live in Renfrewshire. I work for a UK charity in Glasgow. We both have an interest in photography. I love walking, running and wildlife. We both enjoy reading. So, Uist is just perfect for us.

We live and work on the mainland but are very happy to answer any questions before you arrive. I always phone on the evening after the guest arrives anyway. This gives you time to settle in and think of anything you might want to ask.
