Location

Trumansburg, New York, United States

Trumansburg is a historic, walkable village you might enjoy exploring. Our house is located one block from Main St. where you’ll find restaurants and shops. Restaurants you can walk to include Atlas, a Brooklyn-style bowling alley with a full bar and restaurant; Little Venice for casual Italian dining with a busy little sports bar; New York Pizza, the best in the region, but closed Sunday and Monday; Dragon Village for Chinese takeout; The Falls Restaurant, for classic American diner fare (at the edge of the village) and Hazelnut Kitchen for locavore fine dining.

Main St. shops include Gimme Coffee (check out the deck and mural out back), the Main St. Bike Shop; Short’s, an old fashioned barber shop; a wine and liquor store; the area’s favorite sewing shop; a quirky bookstore; Sundrees for souvenirs, gifts and jewelry; the Gemm Shop, a thrift shop that benefits our schools, and Good to Go, a health food/convenience store.

Looking for a dive bar with live music? Look no further than The Silver Line Tap Room—a pleasant walk from the apartment.

Also on Main St.: the Ulysses Philomathic Library, our Village Offices, with a wall of tourism brochures outside to choose from. Around the Village there’s quite a bit of historical architecture, especially Greek Revivals, like our house.

We’re also lucky to have access to a State Park in our town—not exactly walking distance, but less than a 5 minute drive. The gorge trail atTaughannock Falls is an easy half hour hike to the state’s tallest waterfall. Not to be missed, though it does get muddy! A trailhead of the Black Diamond trail is here, too.

Want to stay awhile and explore Ithaca and the Finger Lakes? Text me what you’re looking for and I’ll customize some recommendations for local food, cultural events and destinations, natural wonders, wineries and college town curiosities.
