Reunion, Anniversary, Wedding, Family Retreat or Couples Weekend - enjoy an entire compound! Originally a bed & breakfast - The Veranda is a glorious 1920’s Victorian Home (and accompanying bunkhouse) that served as the areas most posh upscale B&B.

The property is gorgeous and an absolute treat. However I expected more upkeep for the price it charges. I don’t expect to be told to shore up a broken bed with books, or tough up and swim in a dirty pool or have puddles all around the property cuz the sprinkler won’t shut off. B…

Sangetta - I am very disappointed that you posted this review as it is grossly unfair and not at all representative of our accommodations. We have had over 100 booked stays and have NEVER had anything except a 5-star review. On both the booking sites we use - we've never had a single negative review - only yours. Only you and your party have taken issue with our value. Pool - was 100% cleaned on Thursday night before your arrival. Yes, a large storm swept thru Friday AM and in the East Texas Piney woods (with trees all around the pool) - you get debris. At your insistence we even paid $200 for the pool cleaner to come out again to remove the pine needles your refused to remove yourself with the net. You then complained it was dirty on the bottom. We explained over and over again it was a stain and not dirt - but you refused to understand. Broken Bed - The cleaning crew is adamant that the bed was broken AFTER your group arrived. As a courtesy we did not file a claim for the damage. But to be clear - it was broken by your guests. Sprinklers - yes they 7 acres need water in the 100 degree summer heat. I called you to turn them off but you said they cut off on their own. I answered more than 40 emails from you over the 48 hour period and even more texts and phone calls. You called looking for air pumps and light switches and more that are NOT normal requests. WE graciously allowed you to take full advantage of our hospitality and use anything you wanted. When you couldn't find the dining room light switch - you called and when I instructed you to look on the wall right next to the door - you told me I should create a user manual (for a light switch)? Respectfully - you booked our property and then asked to exceed the maximum headcount (which we kindly agreed). But you were never happy with anything we did. This is the country -and its an old house. I suspect your group would be better in a steel and glass high rise. The country is not the right fit for you.
