With a deliciously comfortable pull-out bed, 1.5 bathrooms, large shower, and record player you have everything you need to detach and relax. The tiny house has a compact indoor and spacious outdoor kitchen which offers the ability to bbq! Enjoy the superb views, walks on the beach, tramping, native birds and simple living in the tiny house.

This functional and quirky tiny house is a restful and intimate hideaway for a single traveler or couple for a short-term stay or romantic weekend. The tiny house is in our backyard, about 15 meters from our home, but you will have privacy and the ability to come and go as you please.

PETS ARE MOST WELCOME IN THE TINY HOUSE.

This is the ideal place for true nature lovers, beachgoers, animal lovers, and hikers. Surrounded by native trees, bushes, and birds not a moment will be dull during your stay.

We built South Island Tiny House 100% ourselves in 2015 and it was our home for 6 years. It has been perfected, worn, and loved over time and is now very comfortable and cosy. If you haven't experienced tiny house living, this is a perfect example!

You will be amazed at the simplicity and ease of living the tiny house lifestyle has to offer! The tiny house sits on a large deck overlooking the bay. The main house on the property is a stone's throw away, however, you still have privacy in your space. This extra outdoor living area features a grill, sink, dining, and sitting area that is 100% for guest use only.

The Tiny House Space:

- Kitchen (sink, stovetop, basic cooking equipment, seasoning, and cooking oil)
- Woodburner for heat (wood and kindling provided)
- Bench seating (bedding is stored under the bench)
- Bed (full-sized bed with pillows, comforter, and extra blankets)
- TV with Chromecast (there is NO SKY OR CABLE as we are out of range!)
- Wifi (free wifi password is revealed on the app once you book and is written in the tiny house)
- Record player and records
- Storage space
- Games and books
- Shower, vanity, and mirrors (towels, hand towels, face towels, bathrobes, and shower mat)

The small town of Waitati, 15 minutes north Dunedin, boasts excellent beaches, walks, a library, renowned nursery and cafe, convenience store, merchant, brewery and galleries. There are a few daytime dining options including the Gallery on Blueskin, the Blueskin Nurseries, On the Spot (a convenience food store), or Arc Breweries (they often have food trucks). A bit further afield is Port Chalmers, Karitane, and Waikouaiti. Make sure to check the opening hours of these places especially around the holidays. If you are planning on cooking feel free to bring groceries the kitchen is fully fitted out (however there is no oven)!

My husband and I moved from Boston, MA in 2014 and when we arrived in Christchurch we built a tiny house! A few years later we moved it down to Waitati, New Zealand. We came to New Zealand to start a wonderful new life and have been loving every moment.

We love to travel, garden and build things, we just completed our "big" house! We have a tabby with no tail who lives with us in our "big" house now but she gets homesick for the tiny house and visits sometimes. We are just a fun-loving young couple who enjoy meeting new people, foraging for ingredients to put in our homebrew beer and wine, watching UK crime shows and learning about the world!
