The space

This is the perfect place for spending a peaceful holiday, relaxing, reading and exploring.
Traditional village house, renovated by myself in 2007.
Situated in the large village of Kritsa, just 10km from the sea & Agios Nikolaos.
When you enter the house there is a main room, living / dining / kitchen. The kitchen is equiped with electric hob & small oven, fridge, coffee maker, kettle etc. There is a dinning table a chairs & 2 built in bench beds / sofa.
Next there is a walk through room with a single built in bench bed sofa.
At the back of the house there is a Shower room / wc and a double futon bed.
Bed linen & towels are provided and we usually take the wooden bench out into the lane. Our little lane way has steps so has the advantage of no passing traffic :)
This little village house is Simple, basic and unpretentious.

Arrival times can vary but we require you to contact the caretaker 48 hrs prior to your arrival and provide, along with your booking, an e-mail address for her to send you the full list of contacts and directions.
It is not possible for the our caretaker Hilary, to meet you late in the evening so please make sure that you arrive in the village at a reasonable time.
If you have a hire car, you will need to park further down the road & do the rest on foot.

Interaction with guests

I live in France so will not be around to welcome you, however, a good friend, who lives in the village, is key holder. You will recieve her details upon booking, please provide us with an e-mail address so that we can contact you with further details for your trip.

Other things to note

You will find plenty of guide books in the house so that you can discover all the wonderful sites.

Jane's house is a wonderful, cosy and well arranged little place, very comfortable and the explanations to get there were extremely clear.

Janes house was the best choice for us. Perfect location at a beatiful village( Kritsa), and traditionally decorated.

We loved staying in Kristà, a small village with fantastic and kind old woman as neighbors, also it's a very quite place to sleep away from the tourist crowd. The lady who welcomed us was very very nice and helpful, she gave us everything we needed, and also the informations from Jane, the owner were very precise. We've found the realationship quality/price quite good, some things about the house, the house it's nice, basic and I think he needs some point of restauration, but nothing serious. The only problem that we've found in the house was the heat, the ari conditionig works perfectly only in the bed room, but the rest of the house was so, so hot, we were there in july so very hot, in a week we couldn't use the other two rooms in the house because of the heat, even siting outside was very pleasent I think that probably the house would need another air conditioning in the living part. In general our staying is absolutely postive.

We had wonderful stay, Jane's friend came to pick us up and gave us all the good tricks to enjoy the island. She organize also the rent of car and a visit of Spinalonga. The house is very cosy, with ac and really friendly greek neighbors. We just recommend a vacation in Kritsa!

Jane's house is really lovely if you're looking for a more authentic Crete experience. The small village it's located in was only a short drive to the bigger town of Agios Nikolaos and right by some amazing archaeological sites and a Byzantine church. The house itself was clean and so beautiful- I felt at home right away! I'd highly recommend Jane's place for a relaxing and memorable stay in Crete.

It was a wonderful stay in this specially decorated apartment with anything we needed. We were welcomed very warmly and given great tips what to visit, eat and where to go hiking. We would have loved to stay longer and were very sad to leave already after 4 days. All in all: PERFECT!

The house is very nice! very well equipped and is set in the context of the village, good to enjoy the lifestyle greek. Jane was very helpful via email, Hilary gave us lots of useful information: tours, walks, beaches, supermarkets, restaurants... The only incovenience is that the house is very warm. Luckily the ventilators have helped to sleep, but ,maybe the most effective solution would be to install air conditioner.

My name is Jane & I am English, living in France for over 23 years. I have a passion for France & Greece & having a house in Greece was simply a dream come true. Sadly, I don't get to spend as much time as I would like, in this cute little house so rather than in sitting empty,…
