The space
Rainbow Valley Retreat B&B in the beautiful Derwent Valley of Tasmania, Australia, offers peaceful, quiet, and tranquil country style accommodation. My farm homestead is circa 1932, on 13 acres of lush pasture and surrounded by natural gardens. I am 20 minutes to Mt Field National Park, Russell Falls, and the Styx Valley National Heritage Forest.

There is the opportunity for beautiful walks to appreciate the natural beauty of the valley. You can spend two nights easily if this works with your travel plans as there is plenty to see and do. Has proved to be an excellent stopping point between Hobart and for those who are heading to Struan or coming from there. You need to allow a full day for travelling this distance as there is much to enjoy such as a short trek at Lake St Clair is a must along with other activities.

I offer the basic service for the travelling tourist. In the winter time my guest's enjoy a bottle of wine in front of an open fire along with their choice of Nibbles. In the summer time there are a choice of places with beautiful views in the garden, or on the patio, to likewise enjoy a bottle of wine and nibbles. (BYO)

There are other Dining facilities available to cater for those who want to Dine out.

There is a bush chapel in the garden that allows for a quite space to enjoy a reflective space.

(URL HIDDEN)You can enjoy a night off the beaten track, or stay and enjoy a complete healing retreat. I am a trained Therapist and work in unique way's incorporated with music and art.

Guest access
I have a good sized bedroom, the availability to share my lounge room, kitchen facilities and an open fire. The open fire creates a warmth an ambiance essential to the season. I have a small dining room with a beautiful view for breakfast. My bathroom is a basic bathroom with bath/shower. Although not an en-suite, it is very much your space while you are a guest in my home.
For the Artist or the honeymooner only I offer extended stays in an original hopickers hut. It has a queen size bed, with basic facilities. Warm, close to nature, and cute. You will still share my kitchen and bathroom facilities. Becomes available the end of August.
In the winter time my services increases due to a lesser choice of places to dine. I find it is more convenient and safer for my guests to stay in for the evening and use my facilities for a pasta type meal and to enjoy the warmth and cosines of my home.

Other things to note
Phone communication can be difficult in certain regions of Tasmania especially in the Highlands. The only service that will work is Telstra. If you have any other phone such as voda you can purchase a sim card from Telstra to enable you to have communication but this can still be limited in certain areas.
As part of my service I do not offer wireless internet unless you are on a working holiday and this is arranged with me when you book.

Living in the beautiful Central Highlands opens you to experiences of ruggedness and beauty in all its colours as the seasons open to their fullness and then into another. Its beauty is amazingly diverse but roads are long and windy in some places. Shops are in short supply....but take the time to allow a different experience to touch your soul.

Rewriting the script in Covid.....I am 20 mins from Mt Field National Park. Catering for guests travelling Tasmania in a week has been my vocation for some years. It has proven popular for guests as it has been described as "not a cookie cut experience." It is through my love of hosting, I have continued to create my home surroundings for travellers to enjoy. I sense the need will be different for my guests this year, so I offer my normal one or two nights stay in my home for the travellers keen too see new things as the norm. For those needing to write a new Covid script whilist taking time out, or perhaps the artist, the muscian wanting to compose music... I offer a unique space in a an original Hopickers hut. It is one roomfully renovated, kitchen partially. Original stove and fireplace remaining. A little slice of glamping. Bathroom/kitchen facilities are a short walk to the main residence. Perfect for those wanting space, and close to nature, the night life, stunning veiws of the back of Mt Field National Park and the amazing sky at night. I offer a small fire pit to use on fire ban free days. See photos for more information (Website hidden by Airbnb) Surrounding my house is 13 acres, with stunning views of Mt Field. My passion is healing arts, having had the having successfullly exhibited my art on the East Coast. The works are now currantly displayed on my property in Gallery/Chapel.A lovely spot to sit and enjoy, feel the peace which is offered through my creative endeavours. My inspiration has come from my garden and the natural beauty which surrounds me. I have a beautiful deck recently built, where anything can happen on a summers evening with the sun setting behind the mountains, a glass of wine perhaps to accompany some harp music....There has always been an un unknown igredient that can be created by the exchange of guest/host coming together in this beautiful spot where the masks fall away, even if we are currantly wearing a covid one. My home is a federation farm house. Its not always perfect, a little bit of imperfection reflects the true nature of a home and that is how I ask you to treat it. My place has shown itself to be a good resting place for guests who come through from Strahan on the West Coast, with many attractions on the way here. Ellendale is a beautiful spot with all its natural tourism attractions which sit behind it. It is one hour and 15 minutes to Hobart. There are a number of small cafes for eating out in the day time. 3 good local pups within a 20 minute radius in the evening. Due to Covid breakfast will not be provided this year. However basic use of my kitchen will be provided. There is the ongoing opportunity to have small intimate Weddings or vow renewal as a Wedding Celebrant is available, I offer the harp and maybe a song composed specially for the day. The hopickers hut is perfect for those wanting to create a little interest in their wedding photos, somewhere to change before the Ceromony, and a lovely glamping experience when the knot is tied. The Ceromony is held in a small Gallery/Chapel. Also available is the deck with the a view of Mt Field in the background. The garden will change according to the fullness of each season. Roses for Christmas...Autumn is spectacular. Whatever it is that brings you to my abode....I look forward to meeting you. For those wishing to enjoy the hopickers hut, please message me for discount offers for min stay of 4 days.
