Beautiful off-grid micro cabin in the woods. These nights are for returning from a snowshoe hike to steaming coffee & cocoa by the campfire. The 7' x 8' studio defines "cozy" for a solo retreat or a romantic weekend away. We can't use it every night, so we'd like to share it with you.

A truly remote feel - you can see every star and won't have internet or cell service - but only a 12 minute drive to Stratford, ON. Heated, with access to washroom (no shower) in retreat centre.

The space
Our cozy 7’x8’ cabin is wrapped in centuries-old reclaimed siding from a blacksmith’s shop.
The lower level is perfect for sleeping and relaxing, with a double daybed and an entire wall of windows looking out into the trees. Climb up my great-grandpa’s cherished farm ladder to a single bunk loft with window overlooking the cedars and sunrise, a place for a great book or a good nap! Snowshoes and a camp stove are stowed under the bed for you :)

Just outside the cabin is a campfire pit with a grill for your steaks and roasting sticks for your s’mores. The Avon Trail is at your front door for easy access, and we’ve provided the trail guide and maps in case you feel adventurous (the occasional hiker may stop to say hello!)

Provided free: Snowshoe rental, camp stove and kettle for your morning coffee (including propane), propane for heater, unlimited campfire wood, cell signal booster (please request)

The logistics:
Lots of outlets for charging your phone and laptop. Cell signal may not be available - enjoy it! Heated with propane, regularly inspected and professionally installed.

For the earth-lovers: My dad and I built this cabin out of almost exclusively reclaimed materials, including its insulation, windows, and nearly 200-year-old siding from a blacksmith’s shop. It runs on a solar panel and propane. All the firewood is trees from our Managed Forest, many of which are ash trees which needed to be removed. And best of all, the forest itself is a rehabilitated gravel pit on its way back to health!

I am a designer & birth doula who likes to work with my hands in my spare time. When I'm not outside, I've often volunteered around the world. Ask me about building houses in Colorado, sheep farming in Iceland, or shadowing a midwife in Uganda!

*After a hiatus, we made some big reno’s on the cabin and we’re back in business!
