Centrally located between Midland, Bay City and Saginaw, just outside the quaint town of Freeland resides your escape from the city! Have the best of both worlds! Enjoy a quiet secluded serene country setting of fields and forestry while only being 5 minutes from the local & chain restaurants, grocer, gas stations, ATM's, etc! Our spacious home is situated on a 95 acre parcel 800 feet off the road delivering you a peaceful retreat after a long day of work, play or travel!

The space
Adorned with Lodge Like decor, our 2500 sq ft lower walkout unit is exclusively for our guests enjoyment. You'll easily find fun or peace and relaxation outside of your private room. There are indoor social areas as well as outdoor options. The indoor area is where you enter. The open floor plan accommodates the kitchenette/ living & rec room area. This is where you'll be able to enjoy a meal, brush up on your pool game, or warm up by the fireplace! Multiple comfy seating options, a treadmill, and recumbent bike are all in view of a 60" TV! Adjoined to this area is the Sauna and weight room as well.

Down the hall you'll find the laundry room, bathroom and guest rooms, Room's 1, 2 & 3. Room 2 will not be available till approximately Fall/Winter 2020 and is currently not listed. This listing is for room 1.

If you're an outdoors enthusiast we have lots of options! Relax on the patio in the sun or the shade the upper deck delivers! Grill a meal and enjoy it on the patio table or roast some hot dogs over an open fire pit! We provide the wood and will even get the fire started for you :) Play some horse shoes or corn hole and cool off in the pool!(open seasonally)

Unlike the hotel in the city we have plenty of space to accommodate large trailers, RV's Boats, etc. However, much like the hotel, included in your stay are a few breakfast options for you to enjoy! Coffee, OJ, Milk, yogurt, eggs, breakfast bars, oatmeal, bread (typically homemade), along with butter, peanut butter, hazelnut spread and some jams are the typical things you'll find on the bar area to get your day started right!

Guest access
Your room is private. Full bathroom, kitchenette, sauna, laundry room, weight room, social area, and patio may be shared with another party max additional guests beyond your reservation is 3.

The pool & fire pit are the only things that may be shared with us :) We reside on the level above you and only enter the space on occasion to take care of the dishes daily. However we try to take care of those things while you're gone as we don't want to disturb you during an intense game of pool or your favorite show :)

If you're looking for a place where you can get away and find peace and quiet, along with some serenity and relaxation in a homey environment, this is the place for you! We're looking forward to hosting you!

Other things to note
Want to get out and explore? We're only 15 minutes from Dow Gardens and Whiting Forest which offers a newly built canopy walk. This attraction happens to boast the nation's longest covered bridge! It's a mere 1,400 feet long, and soars up to 40 feet above the ground :) Included in your stay is a pass for up to 2 adults to enter and explore both Dow Gardens and Whiting Forest at no charge! (a $20 value!) For more info checkout my online guide book to get a head start on planning your stay!

Interaction with our furry co-hosts is ultimately up to you. An expertly crafted walkway designed specifically for guests provides a barrier to ensure the comfort of all guests. You are welcome to pet them or even step into the dog run for a game of fetch if you wish.

Want to know who you’re staying with? We get it. We’d like to think “Strangers are just friends you haven’t met yet” We embrace and celebrate diversity and strive to provide a welcoming & comfortable environment for all of our guests. Scott joined the Navy after graduating high school. Following his honorable discharge, he was employed by The State of Michigan for 30+ years before he retired in 2017. Two months after our first date, Scott began what he refers to as his “work journey” which would fast track him to retirement. Equipped with a strong work ethic, tenacity and grit Scott took on a grueling schedule of 16+ hour shifts with very limited “days off”. Sacrifice of sleep and time contributed to crushing his originally anticipated 3 year goal in 2! I duel enrolled in community college at age 16. In addition to a max course load, high school classes, and selling Cutco knives, I remained actively involved in studying and teaching dance. High school graduation arrived in June and by August I completed my ABS from Delta. Higher income potential lured me from my Mid-Michigan roots to Grand Rapids where I would purchase my first home at age 19, and continue my education while working as an inside sales agent. I returned home in 05' to complete my BBA at Northwood University in 06’. I enjoyed a 10+ year career with Verizon wireless which concluded shortly after we were married in 18’. I’ll be forever grateful for the people brought into my life via that vessel, which includes Scott! ;) Scott and I are a dynamic duo who share complementary strengths and shortcomings. His motto is be “firm yet fair” which balances my “warm and generous” nature. I primarily handle the communication, photography and managing the AirBnB platform. Scott and I team up on cleaning, décor & brainstorming. His enthusiasm for the outdoors provides the deer mounts complimenting my rustic country farmhouse style. Scott was part of the building process of this home and has resided here for over two decades. He takes great pride in maintaining and improving the homestead. We launched our first listing in Oct 18’ with pretty low expectations. November brought our first guest and by December we added a listing due to demand! We have evolved SIGNIFANTLY thanks to all of our amazing guests who have graced our presence! What started as an adventure has now become a passion! We’re truly honored and look forward to being your home away from home!

During your stay
We are more than happy to accommodate social as well as more private guests and we leave that entirely up to you!

We have resided in the area for decades and are happy to direct and advise of local events and things to do in the area. Scott is retired and I have a flexible schedule so don't hesitate to reach out if you'd like to have a drink, play cards, or we can teach you one of our favorite games! When weather and schedules permit, Scott enjoys taking our guests on a golf cart ride to see the other side of the property which delivers additional beautiful views of the country and it's wildlife :)
