The house sits in the middle of a large, secluded garden which leads to a beautiful creek. The contrast between the surrounding dense forest and the planted, mowed garden creates a strong impression of tranquility. The house is quite pleasant, properly equipped and very clean - it worked well for us four (including two kids), but just be aware that it is not a large unit in the case you are traveling as a family. Our hosts Mik & Pete were lovely, and one can quickly see how much the beautiful gardens owe to their efforts. This great stay will remain in our memories.

Response from Mik&Pete:
Hi Tania - thanks for the good review. Thought I would answer a few or your queries. The plastic garbage bags were in a tube in the kitchen drawers - as they are eco-friendly ones we use (as Byron Shire is supposedly plastic bag free). We promote recycling food scraps and we don't use plastic ourselves, as a habit. As we are strong recyclers, we find it easier that way and we normally 'deal with the garbage' ourselves. You were the first guests to ever put the garbage in the bins up the top of the driveway! Thanks for that. You have also been our tidiest guests! As we also have the studio listed with other agencies, the price factor is basically promoted for couples (ideally sleeping two people comfortably) but we have found the studio is popular with families with young children (nature, I guess). Peak season is always around Christmas and New Year and that's when the price goes up to match the trend. I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay and sorry you thought that the property was smaller than you expected (that's why I have so many photos and call it a studio, not an apartment or house). Give my regards to your lovely family and we do hope to see you here again one day!

We loved our stay, the place is just as pictured, it's lovely warm and clean cottage and has everything you need, the big bed upstairs is really comfy. The seeting is even more beautiful, filled with the sound of singing birds. We saw a platypus down at the river and lots of birds flying around. If you want to get away from the city and be surrounded in nature, Mik & Petes place is perfect. There is a great cafe up the road called DOMA we enjoyed many lovely meals there. Mik & Pete are wonderful hosts, so thoughtful and kind, there was so helpful and accomodating. Highly recommend staying here with a small family or as a couple. We were travelling with our 2 year old daughter and she loved her holiday home, lots of nature to see and delicious fruit to try form the trees.

We had a wonderful two nights at Mirika and Pete's place. The property is lush and private, and our hosts were welcoming and friendly. The place was spotless and homely, with everything you could need for a weekend get away. Freshly baked bread and a breakfast hamper was left for us too which was a lovely surprise. Huge, comfy bed and hot luxurious shower. We are planning our next trip back already.

Marika is an artist and a writer; Peter is a teacher and a drummer (Victims of Geography swing band; Wilson Cooper covers rock band). Keen gardeners (you will see how keen when you visit our piece of paradise). Ten acres with creek frontage takes a bit of maintaining! We are locals with local knowledge.
