Come stay at our cute little house in front of the ocean. If your plan is to get away from tourists and just relax in front of the beach, this is the space for you. You can hang out by the pool while you watch the sunset and enjoy your favorite drink.

The space
Ideal for long stays, days go by and you forget to look at the time while you swing yourself in a hammock or drinking margaritas by the pool. The house is small and quiet, perfect if you want to disconnect from everyday hassle. You have a kitchen with all the basic things to cook, we have a microwave, fridge, corkscrew, coffee maker and some basic things like oil, sugar and salt. We do not have air conditioning as we feel that since you are so close to the ocean there is no need to have one. We've had guests from Rusia, Latvia, Toronto, New Zeland, just to mention a few and none of them has even complained about being hot during the night or unable to sleep due to the heat. All of the windows in the house are from floor to ceiling and you can open them anytime to let the breeze in.

Guest access
You will have the house to yourself if you choose to stay with us. You can park in the back of the house.

Other things to note
If by any chance you get bad weather like a storm or something of that nature there is a slight possibility that the power shuts down for a few minutes, usually its about 10-20 minutes and then it comes back, if it happens during the night we have flashlights and candles in the cupboard.

Location

Chelem, Yucatán, Mexico

The town is 2.5km away, its probably a 30minute walk but watch out for the heat an sunburns, we recommend asking for an Uber to drive you there there are also moto taxis (kind of like a tuktuk) those are pretty common an cheap to go to town and back. You can buy groceries in the village market or at Dunosusa, Super Willys or Oxxo, all of them are in the main square or no more than a block away from it. The town is usually quiet and you might find a lot of retired Canadians or Americans who spend their winters in town. If you come during summer time you will find a little carnival in the main square, it is usually packed with people from Mérida who come to their beach houses.
There is a bigger town nearby, Progreso, if you take a if you go there you can walk by the sea wall and pick some local food restaurants and bars.
In Chelem we have a few spots we like a recommend you can find them in google maps: -Café France for breakfast, opens wed-sun
-Restaurant Costa Azul (try the fried fish or ceviche)
-Puerto Lindo club de Playa (try octopus tacos or fish filet)
-Alpha Kite, if you want to try stand up paddle boards or kite surfing lessons this is the place to go.
-Chelem Pier, you can go there and hop on a little boat to explore the mangrove and if you are lucky you might get to see flamingoes or cranes.
-Ecological Reserve El Corchito. You might need an uber for this one since its in Progreso but its also a little boat that takes you to the reserve there is a little fresh water spot in the middle of the ocean and the mangrove. You will see local species like raccoons and coatis.
