Our Craftsman was built in 1935 and is located in Montgomery's historic Capitol Heights--a charming, character-filled neighborhood with proximity to downtown!

The space
Our house was completely renovated in 2018, and Historic Designation was awarded to it and other properties on the block shortly after that. The house sits up on a slight elevation with a breezy, spacious front porch (and lovely front porch swing), giving it a great view of the street and homes around it. Plentiful windows, 4 sconces that are original to the house, two (non-working) fireplaces, an original archway between the dining and living rooms, and an updated bathroom and kitchen make for a relaxing stay.

Our guests have private access to the entire house: two comfortable bedrooms; an office; a spacious den; and a cozy dining room, kitchen, and breakfast nook. Guests can find a full-size bed in bedroom #1, a queen-size bed in bedroom #2, and a work desk in the third room/office. Two Smart TV's are available for guests to use in the living room and in bedroom #2. A Keurig with coffee, cream and sugar as well as Nutri-Grain bars are available in the kitchen. A broad assortment of card/board games can be found in the dining area and several books can also be found in the breakfast nook.

This home is the first house that my husband and I bought and lived in together, and our goal is to make it as inviting, cozy, and comfortable for guests as it was for us.

Just five blocks from Cramton Bowl, we're approximately a mile and a half from the entertainment district, the Alabama State Capitol, the Alley, the National Memorial for Peace & Justice, the Hank Williams Museum, Civil Rights Memorial, Rosa Parks Museum, Dexter Avenue Baptist Church, and more. We're also close to the Biscuits Stadium and Maxwell and Gunter Air Force Bases. Located on the main artery to downtown, we're very accessible by interstate.

Madison Avenue is a main neighborhood street leading into downtown Montgomery and can be noisy at times, but most street noise cannot be heard due to the elevation of the house.
My husband and I currently live in the same neighborhood just a few blocks away and regularly go on runs/bike rides from our house to the Riverfront using that same street and have always felt safe.

Hi! I was born and raised in Montgomery, Alabama. I married my best friend, Luke, in 2017. I have two of the best older brothers in the world and a wonderful mom and dad, and we all live in historic homes in downtown Montgomery, Alabama.

I love to travel abroad (Jerusalem, Prague, and Vienna are my favorites!), but I also love the U.S. My dad graduated from Syracuse (he’s a Buffalo, NY native) with a forestry degree, so growing up, my parents took my brothers and I all over the States each summer to visit different National Parks. A longstanding joke in our family is that our “vacations” are more exhausting than work because we can’t go anywhere without a long hike (like Grand Canyon, rim to rim). And as tiring as those trips were/are, I wouldn’t trade them or that time with my family for anything in the world.

I love the Western U.S. because of its natural beauty, but I love where I’m from because of its intricate past. I teach history at a magnet school downtown, and most of my students have family members who either marched with Dr. Martin Luther King, who went to church with Rosa Parks, or even who helped George Wallace campaign for governor.

Montgomery, once being the capital of the Confederacy and now known as the city that kick-started the Civil Rights Movement, was voted in 2014 as the Best Historic City in the U.S. by USA Today. As complex as its history is, I am incredibly proud to get to live in such a remarkable city and love getting to help others share in the experience!
