This rental includes use of the guest bedroom and bathroom only. Use of the front porch is also permitted when we are not using it. Because this is our private residence, access to all other parts of our house including the kitchen and living room is not permitted. Please be respectful of our private space.
Because we have key-code locks, we offer self check-in to all of our guests, so you may arrive at any time after the 5:00pm check-in time. The key code access activates at 5:00pm for new guests--prior access is not possible. Therefore, our check-in time of 5:00pm is firm with no exceptions or variations. Guests are not permitted to enter the home prior to 5:00pm regardless of the situation.
Access to inside the house is through the front door--come and go as you please, after 5:00pm. No curfew--don't be afraid to come in late.
Interaction with guests
Very limited to none; You are unlikely to see us--we're always on the go! We give our guests the utmost privacy. As we stay very busy and travel frequently, we may not have the opportunity to meet you—however, we are still glad you are here! We offer a space comparable to the privacy of a hotel--you might see us, but we realize that you are unlikely visiting because of us, but rather because you are seeking an alternative and more affordable option to a hotel. Therefore, we keep to ourselves and give our guests the privacy and space that they prefer.

Because of limited parking space, our listing has space to accommodate only one vehicle per reservation, regardless of number of guests. Guests who are arriving in more than one vehicle will need to make their own accommodations for parking of the second vehicle at a location outside of our neighborhood. Many guests have safely parked additional vehicles at the Ingles Grocery nearby on Long Shoals Road, including overnight and for several days at a time. Guests must follow our parking instructions closely, sent prior to their arrival by AirBnB message, due to the limited parking space and to ensure that guest parking does not interfere with our own entry/exit to our home and that of other visitors we may have. Our neighborhood does not permit parking on the street.
Hello! My husband and I are looking forward to hosting guests in our home as well as being a guest of others during our travels. We became AirBnB hosts in 2014 and have since hosted nearly 900 bookings/guests.
We live in Asheville in the beautiful mountains of western North Carolina.
Allison works as a fourth grade teacher at Mills River Elementary School. Peter works as the Trails & Outreach Coordinator at a regional land trust, Carolina Mountain Land Conservancy. Both of us work to keep this region we love as wonderful as it is today, and make it even better for future generations.
We love to take road trips throughout the year. We have appreciated the kindness of many over the years who have let us stay in their home or camp in their yard, or have rented a room to us for a reasonable rate. We are guests who are focused on our travels and we most often are seeking simply a room to hang our hat for the night before our travels resume the following morning. For that reason, most hosts barely know that we are there. In appreciation for the kindness shown to us over the years, we pay it forward by being clean and courteous when we are guests in the homes of others, and we are seeking to host guests who are similarly self-sufficient and simply seeking a basic place for the night.
We look forward to you staying in our home!
