Welcome to Barn 8 Studio, our newly renovated historic barn. Our entirely private studio is fully self contained making it easy to stay for a relaxing nights get away or a longer holiday in the Central Otago region. We live in a peaceful rural setting where we run a small lifestyle block. It is the perfect place for star gazing in the outdoor bath or relaxing reading a book under the trees in the private garden area.

The space
Our newly renovated studio has been fully insulated making for a pleasant, relaxing environment. The fully equipped kitchen has all the conveniences of home and there is a BBQ set up with outdoor dining so you can enjoy those long summer evenings. The separate laundry makes it a great place to refresh at your pace. We have installed a heat pump for easy heating and cooling. There is a sofa bed that would be suitable for 1 adult or a couple of children. Linen for this is available on request.

We live in a quiet semi-rural area surrounded by mountains. It is an ideal place for a relaxing get away. Located 10 mins drive down the road is Lake Hawea. There is a cafe/restaurant/bar, a local pub and a shop that stocks fresh, local produce. The village of Luggate is also 10mins drive away with a historic pub. Wanaka is 15/20mins drive away with all the amenities of a bigger town. There are multiple walking/cycling tracks of different difficulties located near by and various swimming spots to cool down on a hot day. The Hawea river with a "surfing wave" and picnic/swimming spot is 5min drive on the way to wanaka

My family and I located to Hawea Flat a few years ago from Wanaka to enjoy a more low key lifestyle. We have a 5 year old daughter and a 1 year old, 2 dogs, a cat and a few chickens. I emigrated from Ireland over 10 years ago and didn't get much further than the stunning Wanaka. My husband, Brooke grew up in Dunedin and spent a lot of time in Central Otago as a child. We are currently learning the ropes of owning a rural property, honing our skills in sheep shearing, thistle eradication and hay making.
I recently started my own Architectural Design business after working and studying architecture for over 15 years. Brooke is a builder who works locally and tries to get as much time on the land as possible.
We both love to travel and understand the joy of a relaxing, private place to return to after a long days adventuring somewhere new. This is what we strive to achieve with our accommodation.

We are around most weekends living in the cottage behind the barn and working on the land. We are available for any questions then. Otherwise we are contactable via phone/email during the week. We are happy to to help with queries or advice on the surrounding area within reasonable daytime hours. We have young children so the times between 5-8pm can be tricky for instance responses, we will of course do our best to be available for any queries/issues.
